treatment?? or not??

Sorry I have not been a part of the forum for awhile, but I'm back now.  My husband and I both have hepC.  He has had hepC for almost 30 years now.  I just found out I have it in 1999.  My husband was set to start treatment with PegIntron and Riboviran.  He opted out of treatment.  He thinks he is too far gone to do any good.  He had his first biopsy in 99.  That showed some slight liver inflamation (inflammation).  He continued to drink and a year later his next biopsy showed fibrosis with bridging.  We continued to drink until last month(june 2002) so i'm sure there is more damage than we last knew.  I'm scared for him and for myself.  At this point, he feels like "walking death", his words, not mine.  The doctors won't give you any kind of time line with this.  I realize that everyone progresses at different rates so you can't predict how long you have.  However, there must be some kind of time line we are looking at.  A best case scenerio and a worse case scenerio.  Can anyone please, please tell me the best and worse case time line?  The following is the only information I have on his condition: liver biopsy shows fibrosis with bridging and his viral load is over 6 million.  Can anyone help???!!!
