treatment

Hello All,    Does anybody know how long it will be before there is another treatment other than interferon for transplant patients. My husband is a nonresponder and he had a liver transplant 2 years ago and now the liver is rejecting and the hepc is attacking the new liver. If he has to go through another transplant we would like to know if there is anything that could help him or are we just buying time for nothing, I will ask the doctor when we see him also. Thanks, Ruth

I'm very sorry to hear that your husband is having complications.  I hope his docs can do something to stop the rejection. There's evidence coming out that some people who were non-responders before TP can become responders after TP.  It's certainly a worthwhile discussion to have with his doc; also, the PI (protease inhibitor) trials are showing good success... there's talk that they may be FDA approved within a couple of years.

My best wishes to you and your husband,
