uh oh.
this is the first time this has ever happened.

my alarm when off to take my 7pm riba and when I looked in that compartment there were no pills.

dilema - i cant remember if I took them or not.... I dont think I did, but the compartment is empty.   Should i take three more or wait till morning?
What would happen if i have taken them (3) and I take three more (double dose)

ok. just called pegassist #, a nurse called back within 10 minutes and told me not to take dose, that it was better to miss a dose than double dose.

BUT then I had a great idea.. I counted the pills left realizing that I should have a multiple of 5 IF i had taken the dose.  Came up with a multiple of 2 and realized that I did not take that dose.

:)  I really don't know bandman -  I don't think a double dose one time will hurt anything.  If you do take a second dose tonight, maybe just take 2 in the morning.  I'm sure other's have done the same thing and will advise accordingly.

No suggestions, just tell you what I did under same circumstances. I took the three right away afraid that I would underdose. An hour after I took the dose it became quite apparent that I had just taken a double dose of riba ! Let's just say quite a buzz, but nothing too crazy. Another time I decided to compromise and just take two, instead of the usual three. Another riba buzz, but hey, I'm SVR :)  BTW my guess is that your doc or pharmacist would say wait until the morning.

Per my situation and Trinity's last post -- I continued with my regular riba dose the next day even though I was 99% sure I took a double dose the night before. Figured a little xtra riba in my system could only help. A lot though depends on your sides, hgb, etc, etc.

That happened to me twice during tx.  Each time I took extra pills, just in case.  My thinking was better to double up than to miss a dose.  No harm from the double dose.  

BTW, if you're worried about running short let me know.  I have extra riba and I'm DONE!!!

This happens to me a lot and i'm only in my twelfth week. I made the decision that if the pills are not in my 'compartment', i've taken them, as long as i can't find them sitting somewhere on the counter. I sometimes have NO recollection of swallowing them.

Some might say better too much than too little but I am going with better too little than too much.

I swear if my watch alarm didn't go off, I'd sometimes forget entirely. My Ironman Triathlon watch is one of my best friends - with three alarms - and I never even liked wearing watches before.

i decided i'd try to be more conscious of swallowing them but so far, I'm still absent-minded.

I'd immediately forget the three riba that I did, or did not, take and immediately take another 180 of Peg.  You don't want to mess around with riba.  That stuff is nasty.

glad you figured it out but in future.

a double dose is very yukky. My advice would be when in doubt, take a half dose.

that way is you did forget, you are still getting some, but if you did take it and forget, at least you'll only get enough more to drive you slightly crazy and not stark raving mad.

I think over the course of 48 weeks, I missed a dose about 3 times, and double dosed about 4 times (as my mind grew more stupid, a few times I took the pills, then took them again 10 minutes later). I found the double doses hit me quite hard, affecting my breathing for a day or 2 after. Despite the mistakes, I SVR'ed, so I wouldn't worry if I were you - just try to get the bulk of your doses right.
