ultrasound

does an ultrasound tell you anything about condition of liver?

was wondering.. got my ultrasound results today and everything was normal, size, no dark masses, no nodules....hopefully a good sign...should get my geno type results this week...all this waiting is driving me crazy...ugh thanks ev 1

The ultrasound is used to show the architecture of the liver. It helps diagnose massses. It does not give a good idea of how much damage there has been. A biopsy is the best way to learn that.

The ultrasound examination is a key diagnostic tool for liver disease.
It will reveal if the liver is homogoneous or heterogenous (regular or irregular construction)
It will show if the blood is flowing unimpeded through the liver.
It will reveal nodules,lesions ect.
It will show if the spleen is enalarged and a whole load of other stuff.
