I agree as well however your question was - did our doctors tell us we had to get vaccine before tx because the tx could give us Hep A or B
Sorry, that is not true, yes my GP gave me vaccines
You cannot get hep a or b from hep c or its treatment.
Mine said it was up to me that it wasn't important. But I'm coming to realize my Dr is and his staff are not good at this even if they swear they've treated tons of hep c patients. they seem amazed at things that are plainly stated in medince inserts even. But i my have just had a bad day.
Agreed, best to get both vaccines, period.
Yes, I was given hep A and B vaccines, shingles vaccine and flu shot-glad I recd all that ahead of tx. It is recommended by the practice docs who treated me.
Yes, the first time I treated my GI tested for Hepatitis A & B as well as HIV and administered the vaccines for both Hepatitis A & B.
My doc recommended these vacines when I found out I had hep c. You need to protect yourself from any other liver disease.
oops do uou know. I posted this on wrong one sorry had this question on another forum so sorry
ai know u have read dont lot research when i started treatment my blood enzimes were only like80 and 62 now both are 200 . I have read lot your post you have more knowlege than some dr.s so was wondering does any one else have this problem
I see the other part of your question. No, you cannot get Hep A or Hep B from Hep C. The vaccines are to protect you from getting them in addiition to Hep C, but from an outside source (Hep A - shellfish, food, feces, Hep B - body fluids).
Yes, you should definitely get the Hep A and Hep B vaccines if you have not had them. If you contract either one of the diseases (Hep A or Hep B), they could kill you because you already have a liver disease, Hep C, which is compromising your liver.
My doctor gave me the Hep A vaccine the first day I saw her. I already had the Hep B vaccine years ago and still have antibodies to it.
I don't know what is going on with some of these docs. Some definitely seem to be making it up as they go along. And many sure don't know all of the recommended guidelines. They also have no clue about how to treat the side effects. I have found this entire experience to be sobering, to say the least, and to be downright frightening to say more.
Yes, my husband was vaccinated against both Hep A and Hep B and also tested to see if he had HIV after initial Hep C diagnosis and before first treatment.

My Dr told me to get vaccinated for both, but not because you can get them from Hep C or treatment. Never heard that reason....Good luck - Fred
My Dr tested me for AutoImmune Hep and once that came back negative he said I needed the vaccines for A and B. Just like you I've had the first two and will complete in August.
THANKS THAT SEEMS TO BE WHAT MOST SAY. i KNOW MY DR HAD ME TO TAKE IT BEFORE TREATMENT i TOOK ON IN NOV 2ND DEC AND GET 3RD INJUNE
I think most of us were advised to get both of them, at least back in the day we sure were.
Hi, no my Hep doctor never even mentioned the vaccines for A and B, I am sorry I can not help you. I do not believe it was a requirement however I am beginning to think that some docs are making up their own rules as they go along.
