vascular disease with hep c.

My 57yr old mother has hep c, cirrhosis of the liver, and now vascular disease. Her platelet count is very low and we are told that there is nothing that the drs can do for her vascular disease. Her toes are purple and her pulse is very faint in her left foot.. My question is isn't there something that can be done for my mother?

The problem is there is no way to know for sure if she would had vascular disease if she never caught the virus.  Its possible the hep created or caused the problem to become worse or not.  Everyone is affected differently with virus.

I am very sorry to hear about your mother's conditions.

Having a low platelet count (thrombocytopenia) is not normally a problem until the platelet count goes below 20,000 then dangerous internal bleeding can occur.

What does her doctor say about her prognosis of her vascular problems?
Only her doctor will know all the details about her condition and know what can be done to help your mom. We are a hepatitis community here with experience with cirrhosis but no knowledge of vascular health conditions.

It appears that her vascular disease his her main problem from the symptoms you mention. As far as I'm aware your mother will not be listed for a liver transplant if and when she needs one, due to her vascular problems. So she needs to manage her vascular problems first before try to manage her cirrhosis with a transplant. Is she taking meds for her cirrhosis or is she still compensated and not having complications from her lever disease?

Are you your mother's caregiver? Have you talked to her about her wishes for life support should her condition get dire? Does your mother have a DNR ("do not resuscitate" order) As her vascular problems and liver disease could be chronic it may save a lot of heartache knowing that you will do what your mom wants.

I am very sorry and I hope your mother can recover from her illness as she is still a relatively young woman. All my best to the both of you!

Does she has cryoglobulinemia because virus c?Cryo can                                               cause vasculitis and kidney disease, and the treatment is just interferon ,riba .The plateted count is low because cirrhosis, but it is not the cause of vasculitis, just can cause skin and general bleeding.

I have cryoblobulnimia  and hep c the y say the vascular part will go away if i get treated. Type 1. Now here is the tricky part. is hopeful that the vascular disease will go away but not positive. Also it can cause alot of trouble if you get cold. Keep your mom warm as the blood gels at low temp. so it will keep the side effects down, So I was told.It is important to find out the type she has of vascular disease that is. Many kinds like cryoglob. can go away with treatment.  Hope this helps. Love and light
