will vertex the next phase be with naive pts or previously treated pts ? and when would it start?

the next vx-950 trial will be for naive patients. they say trial will start recruiting 4th qtr of this year so i would guess it will actully start 1st or 2nd qrt of 2008

Correct. The Phase 3 trial will be for subjects that have no previous treatment. There will be other selection criteria, but subjects must be treatment naive.

thank you for your replies. I find this site very supportive with alot of valuable information .iam geno 1b stg.1grade2with mod. fatty liver noted. i was dx.1yr ago . Im trying to wait for better tx.  interested in vx950 trial possibly. i appreciate all info.

I was among the first to start the vertex Prove 1 trial. Geno 1b also, stage 3 liver histology, and 26Million VL.

Did 12 weeks of telapravir + SOC followed by 12 weeks of SOC. I'm now SVR at 30 weeks post tx. Guess you could say I'm a believer.

If you really want to try for the telapravir Phase III trials, then the time to start is NOW!
- Locate a clinical center near you that is involved with Prove 1 and/or Prove 3. These centers are highly likely to be involved in the Phase III trials too.
- Become a patient asap. Take your records and go get a consult. Let them know that you are extremely interested in participating in the Phase III trials.
- They will tell you that they are not recruiting yet, but insist [nicely] that they put you on their candidate list, and try to get an introduction to their head research coordinator. If you can't swing that, then at least get the name and contact info.
- Stay in touch, regularly. Don't be a pain, but remember that aside from clinical selection criteria they are looking for motivated and committed subjects. It makes their life much easier if you 'self select' by reminding them regularly that you are ready, willing and able to be a perfect trial subject.

Hey, I went to the Clinical Trails site and it shows that their was a place in Atlanta but did not list the "group" that handled the prove 3. Anyone know who is doing that in Atlanta?? thanks, jerry

I would add one thing to what APKhaos said. If they say there is a spot: make that your first priority to get done. Spots come and go and you are not the only sick fish.
