Please understand viral load has nothing to do with whether you should treat or not. The only time viral load has a significance is when you are treating or if your baseline vl is low (below 400,000) which gives you better odds of a sustained virological response upon completion of treatment. The degree of liver damage is usually the determining factor.  When you say your liver biopsy was in good shape, do you mean minimal damage?  Of course, "0" means no liver damage.  Stage 1 means minimal damage (fibrosis) , Stage 2 moderate and Stage 3 advanced. Stage 4 cirhossis.  Those with mininimal to moderate damage have time to wait because this disease usually, but not always, takes a long time to advance.  There are better drugs in the trial stages right now and it looks like they will become part of the standard of care within the next two years.  However, once you reach stage 3, treating should be seriously considered.  Abstaining from alcohol, and a good diet are always beneficial to the liver with anyone who has hepc.  What are your enzyme levels?  High enzyme levels indicate inflammation in the liver which will increase fibrosis.
You should discuss your options with a hepatologist (liver specialist) and make a decision if warranted.  Good Luck
