viral load at week8

Went from 1,700,000 to 4800 in 8 weeks.  What is the prediction for week 12?  Is this an indicator?

There is no way to know. We all react differently with tx. I just took my 10th shot, so I am awaiting that 12th week viral load too.

Hope we both get UND.

after that  12th shot, let's say it's on a Friday,  when will you get your viral load test, how many days after that 12th shot?  Do we give it some time to do it's magic, but that most important blood test?

do the 12 week test day of your 13 shot. have blood drawn BEFORE shot NOT after shot.

why does it matter if it's before or after the shot? You're going to continue the drugs until you get the VL results regardless? I am currently on boceprevir tx and they never told me to wait for my injection every two weeks before they take blood.

Are you in a clinical trail to be on boceprevir?  My concern was getting the most accurate VL count at the crucial 12 weeks.  I didn't want it too early.  So the most accurate time is the last day before taking the 13th shot.  I was not so selective on my 4th or 8th week because I didn't know.  This site is very helpful

that is over a two log drop, so that is great news.

But how much of a predictor is it for being non detectable at 12 weeks.  It's like being a little bit pregnant.  If I have even 10 units in my blood, I fail at 12 weeks.  What I would like to know, what is the likelihood of having a non detect VL given my current history, 70%, 50%, 90%?  Need something to get through the next few weeks

I am in a boceprevir trial. today is the end of 6 weeks. the first four weeks of soc and 2 weeks so far of boceprevir. My viral load went from 2.7 million to 69,800 at the end of week four. I hope the boce will get me there. Keeping my fingers crossed.

the test day is generally the following day after you completed a full week as copyman stated, the day after the end of your twelfth week (the 85th day after starting). I just didn't understand why it mattered if you took the injection. I mean if the injection gives you one last boost to und before the test then great, you stay on treatment!

Hopefully all of us will become und before the boot. I really wish you the best and success-Dave

I think we are all anxious about becoming und until we get there, and then we are anxious about staying there. If we don't become und we are anxious about what to do next. LOL

I keep trying to check everyone's numbers to see how I am doing. I especially look at the VL of people who have been in the boce trials before but there is no accurate predictor except when you become und from my understanding, so we just have to "anxiously" wait.

You are very wise. And so right on.  I will simmer down and wait it out.  Not much more I can do.  But having the information, like you just provided is a great help.

My doc said if not undet. at 12 weeks there is only a 5% chance of SVR.  Some on this site stay on treatment longer, even pegasys folks seem to like to keep people on with the 2 log drop at 12 weeks.

That is not accurate, it depends.  If you are two logs less, but still slightly detectable 6,000, or less at week 12, but then become undetectable by say week 16 extend to 64 to 72 weeks and your chances are about 37%, that said, If your weight is in good shape and you never miss a dose, you have a pretty good chance, say closer to 60%.  There are no studies that really break it down, but relapse rates go way down if you adhere to strict tx.

I have 6 more weeks to take me to 64 weeks, as I was at 75. at week 12.  If I were 43 on the HCV quant, or under I would have been undetectable, but close doesn't count at UCLA, we decided to extend.

Don't worry, just stay as strong and comfortable as you can and finish this monster.

You have had a decent drop in your viral load  (over a two log drop) which is good news that you are at least responfing to the drugs, depending on your liver damage if your not und at week 12 you have to choices, either extend to 72 weeks or stop and wait for the PI's that should be out late next year.

As for your chances of being und at week 12 nobody really knows its just a crap shoot. I think the odds are better then what your doctor said for those that extend but are less then 50%. There are quite of few here that went on to 72 weeks and are SVR and as many others that didn't......... Hang in there guy, i'm wishing you the very best.

If not clear at 12 I will stop and wait for new meds.  liver is not in bad shape.  Doc tells me only5% SVR if not cleared at 12 weeks.

Your Dr is not accurate and sharing limited information with you, is he or she a hematologist.?  Do you understand that while on tx and once cleared your liver disease reverses itself.?

Most people that can stay on this TX for 48 weeks benefit ] by letting the liver recover, If they then SVR its a home run.  I too will pursue TI's If I do not SVR, but I did not quite at week 12 and will go the distance.  I was a 01.

Your choice, your body.

Good luck
