what is going on with my scalp?

what is going on with my scalp?

HELP!  This itching is making me crazy!!
For about three months now I have had a terrible case of dry flaking scalp.  Have tried a number of different shampoos for this purpose including some prescription shampoos.  Have been using Capex shampoo every other day and Loprox shampoo twice a week for a month now, as recommended by my dermatologist.  Nothing seems to make it better.  Constant itch and flakes on my clothes not to mention the appearance of my scalp are causing me a great deal of stress.  Does anyone else struggle with this?  Has anything worked for others with this condition?  (Shot 31 of 48) this week.

what worked for me was using a very basic shampoo like Aubrey naturals ( in health food stores)  no sodium laureth etc...  i also EVEN diluted that with water and washed my hair less often.    i also used hot oil scalp treatments often.  i applied olive oil daily to my skin.  a lot of hassle but worth it and never had to pay a dermatologist.  although everyone here has a different experience. hair and skin suffer on tx.

I just use Selsun Blue every other day or every 3 days and of course wet my hair in the shower daily.  It seems to keep dandruff in check.  I have itching on my abdomen, arms and shoulders.  I use valisone cream, ointment and lotion for that.  Actually, I do put valisone lotion on my scalp and it controls rashiness and itchiness.

I swear sometimes I felt like I could take a razor blade and shave my skin off -- it itched that much. I used Gold Bond, Hyrdrocortisone (sp) and scratched my way throught a robe.

I had general wide body itching for over 10 weeks which is only now starting to subside after a severe allergic reaction to the hep B vaccine shot. I can sypathize with your itching issue, at least it seems to be limited to your scalp.

I used Nixon therapy conditioner and combed it into my we hair and left it on overnight.  Keep it on and rise out in the morning.  Good luck

LOL @ the trade-off.

My itching stopped, for a time ... the hair just thinned. I am a guy that keeps it short anyway. Then, at about week 30 or so the rash returned and stayed.

Since I stopped the riba it has lessened somewhat.

Hi ~ No, everyone does not experience the hair loss.  I have lost probably half my hair and it was very fine to start with.  But noticeable?  Not to most people.  I adjusted my hair style.  Used to wear it long and down, now I always have it up in a clip and I don't think anyone notices.  Was driving me crazy picking long hairs off myself.  I even sleep with it pinned up.  I've never heard of losing eyebrows and well, the eyelash thing is a bit strange.  They grow longer!  But remember.......not everyone has this side.
