window period of hcv

Hello everybody
I had a HCv antibody test(ELISA) after 3 weeks from my possible sexual exposure ,
and one week after the possible exposure i got diarrhea and vomiting for a day , for which I got antibiotics for 3 days and it went away.
Now I even got my negative HIV test after 86 days (12.5 weeks) , which i believed was conclusive till I read that hcv and hiv co infection could delay seroconversion for HIV .
Now my specific questions are
1. does acute hcv infection cause diarrhea , vomiting etc , and that too within a week and does it go away in a day or two
2. how accurate was 3 week negative hcv antibody test,
3.if a go for another hcv antibody test at 13 weeks , would it be conclusive , and if not conclusive how encouraging would it be
4. finally does hcv and hiv co infection really delay hiv seroconversion.

I am really very worried
waiting for the experts reply

thanks

I understand what a metaphor is and you have every right to think and choose as you please.  Operative word being you.

I like this forum just fine.  I just think sometimes being rude to someone who is having to deal with this disease  is no way to help them.   Jerks are going to be jerks. In what way do you help someone by scaring them off.  of course The truth is the truth and that's the only way. Do you know what a metaphor is?   I just choose to be compassionate.

@ scared.  It just looked like the same type of question worded the same way.  I thought you might be the same person under another name. sorry

negative antibody test will rule out exposure in the first place , so it will be conclusive

What is conclusive is an HCV RNA by PCR.  That test will detect the hepc virus 2 weeks after exposure.  No ifs ands or buts.  Done deal, end of story if you have PCR.

There are other forums that may be more to your liking.  All replies can't be given to your liking.  The truth is the truth, it's not always nice and this isn't Thumper's world.

The person Bigmistake who posted on the above link sounds  a lot like scared201093 question and answer thread here.  I referred him there because there were some 'great' answers on the other thread.  So I was asking if they were one in the same. the way the wording was looked the same.  Some folks though seemed annoyed the way he (BigMistake) was responding to their answers back there.  I was also hoping I wasnt being taken in, but I havent been on this forum for more than  2 years, so I guess I still dont think there are any questions that should be responded to negatively but I can understand that some people see the patterens better.(flamers do they call them?)  I really almost didnt come back after I had been "handled sternly or joked with" I was too intimidated to ask anything.  I didnt post for a while.  I guess I wasnt ready to be funny since I was still trying to figure this whole HCV shocker out..  So my heart goes out to people that just dont have the answers they seek.  Now I know better, But I'll probably catch bull for sticking my neck out and defending the " goofy questions"  Does that answer Your question..  I am just going to choose to be nice.  What did Thumper's mother use to say?

do you also go by bigmistake on a previous thread?  If not you might want to go to that thread and look at those responses.  They seem very similar.  If you are the same person and I hope you are not, I would be disappointed for you.

HCV is a rarely transmitted sexual disease , but if you still worried then get checked for  HCV antibody after 2 month or for active virus itself ( which is preferable and more conclusive ) in 2 weeks , i think diarrhea was just co-incidence

I am by no means an expert, but unless your friend is/was an IV drug user I wouldn't worry, Even if she was the risk is still low.  If your test's came back negative and you want to be safe I would do what Lydel said and get tested again in a few months, If you only knew half of the retarded stuff I did and was in the clear for the longest time, your mind would be at ease. But you only can dodge a bullet for so long. Your sickness was probably just a coincidence, Did you get tested for all std's??

well mine was protected sex with a  female CSW ,and second was unprotected oral sex(fellatio) with a female friend, and in second incident , the girl had a cold sore on her lips , which incidently was not bleeding (i am not sure , if it was bleeding at the time when she was performiing the act) .
so these are my exposures
so now when should I get tested for HCV for a conclusive result
as far as my HIV test is concerned , I guess if my HCV result will come out negative , i would take my HIV resuts as conclusive...

hey thanks a lot for the reply
well I know that hcv usually cause these symptoms at a later stage
this is what I asked , if acute hcv infection cause these symptoms that too after a week
secondly i have got my negative HIV test at 86 days , almost 13 weeks
and If i get a HCV test at 13 weeks , would it be conclusive

Can I ask why you think you may be at risk?? Was it unprotected sex with a known high risk person?? Not to condemn anyone's preference. To each his own, but the risk does go up if it's male/male unprotected sex from my understanding. Even so the risk for getting HCV sexually I believe is pretty low like Lydel had said. I would guess you probably did something high risk and are a little paranoid. I know the feeling. If everything is coming back negative it looks like you dodged a bullet, but like Lydel said relax and check it again later.

If the hiv came back negative then you are probably okay. I have had it checked twice and mine has been okay. The hcv will cause vomiting and diarrhea but usually not until advanced stages.  hcv sexually contracted is rare....unless there are open cuts or bleeding involved.  If you are totally uncertain then recheck again in 13 weeks....relax.  hiv however is easily contracted sexually....recheck and put your mind at ease.
