wk 8 viral load results

by jt57, Sep 22, 2008 01:21PM
Well, I  started at 10 mill.  wk 4 was down to 3k.  now at wk 8 I am at 180.  Not undectectable yet.

Was told "we are really hoping for a neg. at week 12, at which point we will make a decision to stop at 48 wks.  If not,
we will be looking at 72 wks."

I have to say, I am bummed.  I JUST KNEW I would be undetectable!!!!  I can't imagine going 72.  I know many of you have.  so I sound like a real whiner.....but this is the first time I have really given 72 weeks any real thought.....

guess I am expecting the worse a little prematurely??!!!!!

That is good news.  I did not know about the 48 wks after UND has been reached.    As you can tell, I am already really tired of this treatment.  I need a few good mental health days, I think.

Thanks for the encouragement!!

Not a true RVR but your heading in the right direction, Congrats on getting this far. Don’t give up hope for you have 4 more weeks before the magic #12. You and your body have fought a mighty battle thus far so keep that positive spirit moving forward.

You will probably get to UND in the next four weeks.

In my case I had an almost 3 log drop at week 4 to 411 BUT at week 12 I was still at 419 - I hit some wierd crazy plateau....so I really had to do the 72.

Regardless, 72 is not the end of the world although it seems like it at the time. It does go by so fast you can't believe it when it's over and my last week I actually didn't want to stop the meds because they got to be like a good old security blanket. Of course I said what am I crazy? and stopped....

I've been SVR for almost two years.

THAT is all that matters however I don't think you will have to worry about it just make sure not to miss any riba it's so crucial in the first 12 weeks and THAT is why!

Good luck Jean.

ROTFLMAO... :(

Man, I though I was the crazy one for making a statement like this here, but so true, I even got a little depressed the last week of the taper, not because I made it but because I was loosing a friend.

Hi Jean-- I was thinking of you today and wondering how things went and any news on the procrit issue??
Ditto on what everyone else is saying about undetected by 12 weeks... you may want to ask for a "ultra sensitive PCR test too <5" they do is at Labcorp & Quest if your doctor is not ordering that one so far...
I had to ask for that to be ordered because they were only ordering the <50 test the whole time until week 24...and I see a Liver specialist--go figure!!
Hang in there --I know you had a rough week last week... We are all here for you.
Hope you're have a better day today!

I guess we really do need to look at these meds as "our friends".  Just really hard to accept that a friend could make you feel sOOOO bad.

But then, a true friend truly does have our best interests at heart  ----  there you go, OUR MEDS!!!!

Went back in today, my HGB is now at 10.3, so it looks like I am easing bavk up!!  And I actually feel alot better today.  Docs want to leave things as they are, but we are going to monitor my blood work twice a week for the next few weeks, just to be sure.  If I get into to low 9's, we are going to start procrit.  Not reduction.  Which Is what I prefer at this point.

sure did want to be UND by this time!!!!
