Check out a sneak peek of our new look & feel

Hi,

If you take a look at Dr. McWilliams Heart Rhythm forum at http://www.medhelp.org/forums/show/91 you'll see a sneak peek of a new look and feel that we have designed for MedHelp. Take a look and we'd love to hear what you have to think.

I'm still using Windows 2000 and loving it. I think medhelp is pretty polite about their google ad links. I think that is where (on this version) they are trying to get the conversions for their ad clients who are paying by click.

Kinda funny, after this forum I consider non-HCV people boring and choose not to hang out with them anymore. I'd hate to lose this forum because they can't pay the bills.

They sure aren't making these changes to help us.  Probably have some new gung-ho hires out to prove themselves or maybe it's what you said:

"In the business of the internet there is a term: "conversion point". That is the moment that a casual user gives an email address or orders a service or product for money. They have just been "converted" into an accesable number for advertising, profit. Can't remember why I started typing this"

BTW - that's why i haven't switched to vista and I'm sticking with XP.  Why should I RELEARN all the steps yet again?

This is a great site. It ranks really high in the search engines and it is a godsend of information.

I like it how it is if that matters at all.  I think we all just like our little world just how it has been...we've had enough change already ;)

There is an old saying “you should leave well enough alone.” I don’t know why you want to change it other than being able to cram more ads in and ads mean income. The new format kind of reminds me of You Tube without the videos. I am curios, what is the consensus on the other forums?

I think change is a great thing. However in this case I like the forum just the way it is. I cant imagine opeing all those drawers either. I personally dont care for the "new format". Whats the point of changing if this is working so well.

Lets change things that arent working as well and leave the forum as is.

I checked out the new look a couple times.  It's very modern and looks much like the trend nowadays.  There's a quit smoking forum I've looked at that looks & feels very similar.  Can't say I've spent much time looking at it though, since I started to buy cigarettes again.  ; ]  The depth of knowledge here won't change if the "new look" is adopted but I must agree with others.  The simplicity of this board is what is so attractive.  I can't imagine opening all those little drawers if I were still on treatment.  It would be almost as confusing as trying to read those boards that have   little dancing, jumping up and down animated creatures wearing big smiles.  I would very much miss the clean & simple look and feel of this forum as it is.  But hey, Medhelp, do what cha gotta do I s'pose.  I will add that I do not know if I could have survived my treatment without this forum.  For that I am deeply grateful.

Do we get a vote???   If there's a vote and 'leave it as is', is one of the choices, then, that's my choice.  I've been here for a lot of years and one of the reasons I've stayed is because it's been, well....like Medhelp and not like the other forums.  I hope you don't change a good thing.  The older I get, the less I like change...sorry....   Mostly, I have to say that you all have done a great job.  Anyway, as you can tell, I'm not that old and yet, changes....already affecting my brain mechanisms.

i would be totally surprized and thrilled if our opinion  could help to stave off the changes. it appears from the responses that overwhelmingly, this format's simplicity is its beauty. i say no to the changes and i hope our vote makes a difference.

Change confuses me. Just as I get used to one forum . You seem to scramble it up all over again. No Thanks!!!!!!!

I hear lots of people are backing out of Vista going back to XP. There is no need for Vista unless you are selling it.

The new "look and feel" begs the question: was it done for money or to help the user?

In the business of the internet there is a term: "conversion point". That is the moment that a casual user gives an email address or orders a service or product for money. They have just been "converted" into an accesable number for advertising, profit. Can't remember why I started typing this. Oh well, I guess it's bedtime. If medhelp could get a discount for me on Same, PPC, etc, I would click anywhere on their website they wanted..

"but the other will just take time to get used to I guess."

I just went over to the new forum again and I am starting to like it a bit. I think it would be good if the backround color was the same as what we have now though. The white is just too hard on the eyes when reading posts. You don't have to scroll thru ALL the posts, if you click of number of replies, you'll see who posted and you can click on their name and that brings you directly to their post without having to read ALL the posts or scroll thru them all. I think thats a good feature. I know its just hard to get used to change and I still like this lay out better, but the other will just take time to get used to I guess. I'm confused I don't know what I want. I feel like our parents are in the military and we have to keep changing schools or something. This really does traumatize us all for some reason, but our feelings are real.

   Same thing I was going to say.....'if it ain't broke' and , sorry, don't like the new design. This is so easy to follow. As many above said, we watch for names also and seeing if more names have posted, etc. I think it's important to also remember that many of us do have memory, concentration....what was I saying...oh yeah...concentration problems :}
The other pretty much seems like all the rest I 'skimmed' thru, too much hassle to keep up with post/people and moved on, before I found this one and STAYED here. This one is so much more 'personal'. If it is an advertising space issue also, make those smaller??!!

  It's like your favorite store, you know where everything is and than they expand and remodel and your lost in it.
Reconsider this please. But do hurry on that 'block someone from sending you messages' thing :}
Thank you for asking us and we are giving honest opinions. Can we vote on it?

Ads on both the left and right margins with the new change.  Lots more scrolling because the messages fill less of the screen.  Arrow over the number of replies line gives list of responders in the thread, which is a nice feature.

I'm a BIG believer of "Don't bite the hand that feeds you"....but who's feeding who here? Are we more important to you, or are you more important to us...one way to find out is to change this,
again.
(sigh)
I don't care if someone moves my cheese now and then, but it's been moved too many times already this past year.
Please don't change our safe, reliable, easily navigated community....
