Sneek Peak at our new design - Part II

Hi,

We posted our original sneak peek a week ago and have another view based on the feedback we received. Take a look at: http://www.medhelp.org/forumsample/sample.html. It's not a live page, just a screen shot, but let us know what you think. The new "expanded" checkbox will allow you to expand or collapse the "replies" column as you need.

We really appreciate all of your feedback and are working hard to incorporate it. Thanks for your help!

I actually liked this when I opened it. It has the start of the post which can grab your attention more than something general like: "Feel sick".
I like it.....and I know you are always trying to make impovements, so thank you for letting us voice an opinion. I was a little harsh last time, sorry if I came across as rude.

Why are you changing something "that aint broke"..    "If it aint' broke don't fix it"   -:)

A link for posters "other threads/comments" can be located in their  "name box ".

My 2 cents

That's funny!!!!

Of course I realized soon as I pushed the send button that my comments made absolutely no sense.

Thanks for bringing it so glaringly to my attention.

My only defense is: yup, Brian Fog.

To be more specific on the search functions:
First, make it work; the current search seems to turn up random posts - finding some and not others.

Allow search by poster, subject, message body keywords, date range and any combination of those.

I think the checkbox should collapse the pictures, so that more real estate is available to see posts if desired.

I agree with the others about the need to improve the search engine and to display the "to" column of the post.

To quote Wyntre, "I couldn't open any of the threads to see what the open thread looks like so I can;t really tell." Mike

I couldn't open any of the threads to see what the open thread looks like so I can;t really tell.

From the link page, it does look better than last week's site but IMHO there is entirely too much ad space on the left and the right sides of the screen

I liked that you preserved the visible recent response feature.

I still say why all these frequent changes.  I mean, it's not doing a thing for the posters except make it more tedious to learn another set of parameters.  The old format was fine.

Ditto on frijole's comment - I miss that too and liked the forum much better before it was "split"

What frijole said is true for me as well. Dial up and the recent changes Have slowed loading as well as who was posting to who. That IS missed.

Before they reformatted the first time, you could see not only who posted the responses but to whom the responses were directed.  This was helpful to scroll down to see if someone was looking for you.  I miss that.

I'm in total agreement regarding the search engine here, it is pretty much useless, imo. Unfortunately, I'm on dialup service and with the recent changes made to the site, the result has been much slower page loading. I suspect more changes will slow things down further,to the point that it just ain't worth it...Pro

ok, all attempts at improvements are to be applauded,
yet you are asking for honesty by offering sneak peeks maybe???

OK< so,  hmmm... I have to agree with the above, we all can click on names if we want to see or remind ourselves of who's got a face. the Stream lined look is more apropo in here.

besides which 3/4 of people never put up photos so it's just a lot of wasted page space with empty blue blobs. Some folks in here for years don't have pics...you see them changing??

I'm more interested in seeing more info availability than in format changes.
as this is a working forum, where the goal orientation is treatment and knowledge communiques, not myspace/notice me type stuff.

Like, how about a search engine that really works,
because even if I can remember 2 or 3 key words, technical/medical key words, and/or who wrote it.......the search engine will seldom pull up what I wanted to refer back to. Never seen one quite as deficient. and trust me there's lots of stuff we'd like to refer back to and can't find. I'm not alone in this frustration.

Also, because some folk in here are so bright, It would be nice to pull up All of just their posts and be able to be educated by their personal wealth of knowledge in a more taylored way. .

just some thoughts, thank you for the forum though, that's a for sure for sure!!!

I remember when I 1rst found this forum...and it looked so like a professional medical place...not U-tube, not some silly chat room...but a place of medical information...a place of research, study and sound advice. Wow...i was so happy to find it. I hope that doesn't change...especially for the newly dx'd Hepatitis patients.

If I really had a choice, I would like to have this format remain as is. Sleek and simple and easy on the eyes (color wise). The majority of us do not care to have our faces on the profile due to the nature of our illness. For those that do want their picture...this present format is perfect. It was mentioned by someone that it reminded them of te Utube format and it does. We are here primarilly for support and information...not entertainment. Again, I thank you all for asking for our input.

I think it looks better too which is a good sign cause I am menopausal and nothing makes me happy at the moment but I should be feeling better in about 5 years when my hormones level out. I wonder if my husband will invite me to his wedding. I'd like to remain friends.
