12 step Recovery AND HCV

Okay guys, here's another question I need your advice on. I belong to a 12 step fellowship. I am sure MANY of us have HCV, no one talks about it. There is like ONE support group here in St. Louis that meets like once a month. For us addicts, meetings really bring us together and the support to stay off the sauce is so essential to success.  I would like to start a HCV support group for those of us who have it. A separate group that is not a part of our regular meetings.

Has anyone done this? How did you do it? Where did you start? How did you approach it?

The best way to get out of SELF is to help others - maybe I'm on to something.

Any input from recovering addicts?

Thanks,
Kelle

There is alot of information from Google, I think it's a great idea.  Are you gonna be having this meeting at home or are you gonna rent space?  Are you going to incorporate the 12 steps into the meeting somehow?  There's alot of things to consider and it takes quite a bit of planning.  Good luck and God Bless

You might try the hospitals there.  Some in K.C. have HCV support in their registry, so maybe one in your area could help you with starting a group by giving you information.  Good idea, and good luck!

There is a guy who posts here periodically (can't recall his nickname right now) who is from St. Louis.  In those times when he posts it's usually about an hcv support group or an activitiy/event/meeting that's planned.  When he does so, he gives the name of the group and its web site (can't recall that either).  If I'm struck by a lightning bolt and remember, I'll post again.  You might try to google combinations like hcv or support or St.Louis.  You may even get a hit on the threads/posts that I'm thinking about.  Good luck
