  how goes your drug-induced sh!tstorm?? ------------------------------------------------------

At the moment, trying not to whine :{
  Reading here helps me buck up. I am RARELY out of bed. I TRY so hard (whine, whine:} to get up and going, my body just isn't doing it!  Can last an hour up at most. Where the h*ll are those good days I hear about?? Feels like a combo of worst hangover, add some morning sickness, a bit of food poisoning, along with being beaten with a baseball bat thru out my hips and legs and you have tx! ...... ALL the time.
Going thru some serious thinking on my Dr.'s comment I 'could go 16 weeks'. REALLY serious thinking. (given the blessing I continually remind myself of in being 2b!) This would be one of the FEW days I am saying....awwww &^%$#@#  Geno 2b too, lol.
  Now that I've cheered poor Charm up (sorry dear!) going to have to do a decision on pain pill or sleeping pill!! Flipping a coin.......heads! It's the pain pill, LOL
Glad to hear leg pain can be gone after tx. Something about finally getting up to find yourself wishing for a walker at 49 tends to aggravate you!
  But seriously!  A ruptured disk .....thats rough, sorry to hear that. Thats when your quarter always ends up on heads!! Good luck in that. specially if a choice of surgery to be made.

I haven't had leg pain in the past year, just extreme weakness and the wobbly jello feeling.  I did have a terrible charlie horse for the first time the other night and it was excruciating!

leg pain as a general full-on thang is no longer an issue,post-trx....but,my left leg&foot continued to drive me nuts!..i have been diagnosed with a ruptured disc(#4)..got an MRI and will get some serious consultation at the spine ctr in burlington vt..soon...this was an old construction accident/injury that flared-up BIGTIME during trx and did not 'go away'...after trx ended....but rest assured, most leg pain/cramps have ended post-trx...i firmly believe that trx drugs just aggravate old injurys...have no fear-after trx you will return to the bloom of youth ma'dear..how goes your drug-induced sh!tstorm??

Gizmoes/ IamTheWalrus.....Vicoprofen is 'hydrocodone' with Ibuprofen instead of acetamenaphine.
If you have stomach problems (ulcers,etc.) not so good tho.I alternate, being sure to watch the acetamen. No OTC anything touchs this leg throbbing! I have no addiction issues tho, that is the main concern for anyone needing these. And for me, the Vicoprofen doesn't give much 'buzzed' feeling and not that 'crabbyiness' I get on the other.

Beamish........NOT that I am glad anyone has this problem, but relieved to here it's a bit 'normal' in this. Mine is getting steadily worse tho, walking like a 92 year old!

Sorry to hear about your discomfort. Ask your doc right out for some good pain meds, like Lortab (hydrocodone). It makes those nights much more bearable than the Tylenol they usually recommend. I am assuming you don't have an addiction problem, cause the potential for abuse is why most docs shy away from prescribing narcotics. Also, you MUST NOT have overdoses of acetominophen (Tylenol) which is in Lortab, etc. Talk to the doc, and maybe he/she could help. Hope you do well and don't suffer needlessly :)

Tahnk you all so much for you ideas and help.  I can pretty much handle anything except this unrelenting leg pain.  I mean I pretty much ache all over but my legs by far are the worst.  I spoke with my doctor and he said this is normal and it should go away as my body adjusts to the meds.  Hopefully that is soon!!!!!   LOL!  As far as the sleep issue,  i fall asleep just fine however 2:30 am everyday im up and can't go back to sleep the doctor told me to try tylenol pm so i bought some however I really don't want to take it!  I don't want to cause anymore damage to my liver!  So I am still trying to sleep with out the tylenol and hoping that as I adjust to tx my sleep will adjust to!

Again thank you so much I truely appreciate you advice!

  Hi ya. I have to reply to this one! (been too tired to keep up with post:{

My main 'symptom' before finally getting dx'd with Hep c was throbbing muscle's and the worst, my legs. I am-was- very energetic 'jocky' type, so was always active. Now on tx, week 10, my legs are freaking killing me! Scale of 1-10 pain.......6-8 every dang day! All muscles ache right now but the legs are the worst. Had heard here should get better more into tx but mine is getting worse. (not a cheer you up post, sorry, LOL.)

  I have resorted to pain pill's, hydrocodone or vocoprofen. I wait until I can't stand it anymore and take one, and try my best to wait till later in the day and limit it, but many days to get out of bed, I have to do one.

Curious to what really 'causes' it??

I sleep pretty well still, tho a bit backwards many days. Last week was a sleep all day, up all night week. I was cleaning house at 4-5 AM!!

Hope for you, as just started, it get's better. And hope tx goes smooth for you.

I had leg cramps - charlie horses I guess you call them in my calves but they came and went.  I think that ibuprofen is the better anti-inflammatory and would work better than the tylenol which is just a pain reliever.  It's ok to take them on treatment just don't take a LOT.

Eventually you might have trouble with sleeping because of the ribavirin.  If you do, tell your doctor and get a good sleep aid.  It won't help too much really but even three hours of sleep gets to seem like a lot on treatment.  You can always ask your doc to prescribe something ie: pain med or muscle relaxer.

If the pain gets extremely bad please call your doctor.  None of us on here are doctors or nurses and right now we are just guessing.  It could after all be something completely unrelated.

Good luck.

I had that also. It was quite painful, but it went away in 2 weeks or so if I remember correctly. I didn't want to take the tylenol. I think I only took tylenol once or twice - though the doctor said it was fine, I just didn't want to and instead I used heating pads.

The pain is annoying without a doubt, but it will eventually go away - well it did in my case, hopefully yours too.

I hope you feel better and good luck with your treatment.

You'll have to be very careful but I used heating pads.  I bought two oversized ones and would first loosely wrap my legs in sheets then the heating pad on low temp.  That Bath Therapy stuff for aches and pains too.  Through the day I'd use that icy/hot cream.  I carried it everywhere.  Still find it in odd places around the house.  For sleep, once I had my heating pads safely placed, I'd find my remote control and sleep would come when it would.

Try taking the pm dose of riba as early as you can. I find that it helps with getting a good nights sleep. When i was taking it at around 9pm i had a hard time sleeping.
Not sure about the leg pain I have a little joint pain I use Advil it helps me.

You can try epsom salts in the bath. It relaxes muscles. You can take Tylenol PM that usually knocked me out. But I only took it when I had pain. You can drink sleepytime tea. It works great. My doctor prescribed Ativan .05 mg. Make sure you are getting calcium/ magnesium. Best wishes to you. Take good care. Make

I think I can handle the sleep issue however  the leg pain is almost untolerable!  The only thing that seems to help is a HOT bath but the minute I get out it comes rigth back.  Any ideas that may help?

Hi . Im in 1st week of tx too. I cant tell you why your legs are hurting, although people do have aches and pains early in tx. As far as not sleeping I know for me its anxiety as to whats going to happen to me. I have tried Ambien but it doesnt work for me. Maybe your doctor can prescribe you something to sleep.
