6 month PCR, trillons, die after incevek

Hello All,

Well today was a very special day, I reached the 6 month post treatment milestone.
I received the result of my PCR and the verdict is <5 IU/ML, UNDETECTABLE.
After 40 years of Hep C viron’s running free by the trillions in my body, treatment with triple therapy has ended their existence for me.
I can’t tell how relived I am that it is over. Treatment was hard, and there were times I wanted to quit, but time has passed and memories fade. I still have some lingering side effects that are improving slowly. I am still slightly anemic, and have joint and muscle pain from activating an autoimmune disorder called Sjogren’s syndrome. My friend asked me how I felt about trading one disease for another. I told him ill trade sore muscles and joint pain for liver failure any time.
My AST are 16 at the low end of the normal range and my ALT was 25, 5 point below the normal range.
For those of you considering treatment, I have to say it was hard for me. I am 63 yeas old and it seemed like it would never end. Coming to this board helped me understand that I wasn’t alone, other people were going through it as well and yes it did come to an end.
Like all of us, once it was over we wanted everything back to normal. My doctor said it would take at least 6 months. He was right; I am much better now and getting better as time goes by.
For those of you on treatment, it will pass. For those of you considering treatment, it is hard and it took a toll on an old feller like me. But for me it was worth it, with the Grace of God and support of my wife, family, friends and this board it is all behind me now.

God bless you all and good luck,
Marshall (lucky1)

Your a hero to go through this in your 60's.  A lot of people would feel like it was to late to treat and ignor it.  You are going to have the best years ahead of you HCV free and also have helped many others know that it doesnt matter how old you are, treating is worth it!!!!!    I really admire you.  I am in my early 50's and it was very tough on me, and I was in pretty good health otherwize.  A huge congratulations to you and your new life.  60's is the new 30's   GO FOR IT!!!

Thanks to all the well wishers. Day 2 of knowing it’s over and I still can't believe it. No more worrying about ultrasounds, and no more fretting over liver function test.
I hope that everyone with this dreaded disease can experience the way I feel right now.
We have come so far and the treatments are far more successful. I believe one day everyone who treats will be free of this virus.

Thanks again to all on this board who helped me and countless others get through a very tough time

I have to laugh at the title of your thread.  After reading I know you mean trillions of those nasty little virons, but the title has quite a hook,

the symptoms are similar to hep c , i may have had it a long time and thought it was hep c causing the symptoms, people who have or have had hep c are at the greatest risk of developing Sjogrens. neary 15% of people with sjogrens had hep c. in my case interferon seeems to have made it worse.
thanks

Whoa I bet you are relieved. I can only imagine. Congrats on attaining SVR. I had no idea what Sjögren’s was until just now. I had seen the word around but did not even know it was pronounced SHOW•grins. I am sorry this happened to you but from what I read it is extremely fortunate you were diagnosed this soon.

Again: Congrats on SVR and Kudos to you for hanging in there.
