6 week Labs just in

6 week Labs just in

just got all my labs everything normal EXCEPT my WBC dropped somewhat. She said still in normal range though.Slight decrease. She is mailing me all labs as she gets them.
If WBC keeps dropping is Neupogen the answer usually. And does that have to be taken thruout entire tx.?

Thanks
Charm27

I go for 8 week labs next week.

I had a pcr at week 4. I had a 6 log drop from 75 million to 330 iu, These are my 6 week CBC's.

With week 8 labs will you get a pcr to see if the 330iu have been eradicated?  It's important.

No one will give me a PCR tll week 12. Just been thru hell with that. I would pay out of pocket but being out of work its impossible. Ive begged , sent e-mails, etc for a PCR to be done. They said NO.
Trying not to get upset anymore about it. Ive done all I can do.

I begged for an 8 week VL test as at week 4 just barely had a 1 log drop. The nurse said "we don't test at 8 weeks" and told me it costs $335 in which my response was "are you paying for it"?  Since she wouldn't budge, I had to let it go as not worth the stress.  Who knows, maybe it was just as well as I am und at week 12, and if I wasn't at week 8 I'd have been more discouraged.  Glad to hear your labs are in the normal range.  I'd try not to worry if you're going to need neupogen or any other drugs down the road, just be assured there will be help if and when needed.  Good luck to you!

------------------------------------

If WBC keeps dropping Neupogen is the answer.  I started on Neupogen after my first lab showed the drop.  They actually gave me my first shot at the Dr's office on the day of my appt.  I have been on Neupogen for the entire ride and have gone from once a wk to twice a wk to now three times a wk and they toyed with the idea of going to 4 times a wk.  It looks like i will be on the Neupogen for the entire tx at this point.  It hasn't been a problem and the medicine was free through my insurance because it is a sx caused by my tx and i have to have it, so no problems there.

I was also told that the PCR was given at wk 12 as well.  I think that if someone is txing for a second or third time they should check it sooner; at 4 wks.

That's is great on all your other lab results.  I wouldn't worry about the lab results that much because they will be all over the place and you should just get used to it.  I used to freak out behing my lab results but not anymore.

You might consider doing that '8 week pcr' as soon as you receive the order in the mail.  Even if you get it in time for 'week 7' testing, the sooner you know that you reach UND the better.

I agree with TeeVee36, your labs will bounce all around. My counts kept dropping and they would begin the warnings of support drugs, dose changes etc. Then by the next CBC, everything would rebound and they would be all smiles (me too :-).

I know I am going to sound like a fruitcake and a broken record here, but every time there was a negative change in blood work, I would spend lots of time visualizing the rebound. I researched online how that stuff actually works in the body, and then I would "see" it being done. Who knows if that had any impact, but hey, it didn't hurt and I made it through! :-)

Hope your next results are good!

Charm my WBCs went up and down and up and down and the doc never put me on Neupogen at all.  They always straightened back out on their own.  Of course I did take Epogen for the entire 72 weeks almost (69 weeks) but....I had to.

Do the 8 week pcr right away I agree with FLGuy!

Yes I  know. Unfortunately another insurance obstacle. They changed insurance companies and until transition takes place it will be at least 10 days and $300.00 more a month for ins. coverage.
The second I get my ins. card will have it done. At least I have it now rather than waiting 12 weeks.
Thank you

You bring up a good point.  For the past several years (seems like) the first of the year brings continuing rounds of testing, treatment or other medical/dental whohaa carried over from the prior year.

Seems like all kinds of providers (docs, pharmacy, labs) always have their hands out during the first appointment of the year looking to capture a photocopy of the 'new insurnace credential'  It's a wise thing to do to make sure that the new card(s) immediately begin to travel with you.
