90% chance SVR?!?

Hey all! I saw my liver Dr today...Despite the hyperthyroid thing, he's very pleased with my progress and said, because of the early UND reading at 4 weeks, (and staying the same since) that I have a 90% chance of SVR when this is done! Whoo hoo! Even better than 80% for type 3a, huh? He keep teetering on the edge of reducing the meds, but I told him I'd rather stay at where they are for as long as possible...anything to keep the odds up...I am NOT doing this again...
And, oh, the hyperthyroid thing? Suddenly, my hep and Endo Drs are looking at me like I'm some kind of really cool lab rat...EEK! (My thyroid labs came back REALLY HIGH) So, more tests and Dr visits...Sigh...10 more weeks...Only 10 more weeks...This darn dragon is going out fighting...(But I've got it by the tail and am kicking it in the dragon hole every chance I get! HAH!)

You, darling, are in the catbird seat! It's 3 balls, no strikes and runners on! May the remaining 10 weeks be calm and uneventful. You may want to start planning the SVR party for Thanksgiving!

Big hugs,
Brent

That's about right...your chances of SVR for your genotype combined with the extra bonus of RVR - your UND by 4 weeks.  You go, girl!!  10 more weeks and COUNTING!! :)

Heya lady! Don't let us all freak you out! There are some people who don't get any sides at all! I have a friend, another 3a, who only had a bit of aches the first two weeks, and then nada! she is now 7 months SVR (sustained viral response) and has no lasting effects! Her #s and liver biopsy were the same as mine too...The sides are more annoying than anything, but hey, it's all temporary! I did the shot the evening of starting the Riba...Maybe with other genotypes it makes a difference, but I don't see how...The peg ramps up your immune system to wage war on the virus, the Ribavirin suppresses the hep c so the sneaky little dragon dies faster...(so in essence, the hep c gets neutered by the riba and can't make babies, and then gets stabbed by the peg sword and dies! HA!)  Veterinary Medicine! I KNEW IT! LOL    ~Melinda

Thanks so much for the info. it sounds like what I am likely to get. I way 123lbs and I really want to go for Pegasys/Copegus, if I have a choice. My VL was 580.00 in March. We will see how much it is when they do the baseline test in June. Someone suggested I predose Riba for a week before starting the shots. Will discuss that with my doc too. I am mentally preparing myself for the worst regarding sx. Thanks again, Marcia

I'm on Pegasys (peglated interferon) 180 mcg and Copegus (ribavirin) at 800 mg...Under 160 lbs, the drs will usually do weight based, over that, and the research shows it doesn't matter...My initial baseline vl was 253,000 and I had it down to 16,000 with nauropathic stuff just before I started treatment...At week 4 of treating, my viral load was undetectable...The sides can be pretty aggravating, but it's worth putting up with them when that UND reading shows...Remeber, the vl doesn't reflect how you'll respond to treatment...It can fluctuate wildly, so it's not a very reliable # unless it shows undetectable while you're treating..
TeeVee- Yes I've lost weight! Approx 2 lbs/ week...Perfect timing for summer! At this rate I'll be in a bikini by the end of June! TTTHHHBBBTTT!!! to the Weight Watchers program! HA!                                                   ~Melinda

Great news! And I pray that they will get that thyroid to behave!

Wanted to ask you, as I am a geno 3 and I can see tx is working for you. Are you on Pegasys or pegintron, and how much are you taking. Also how much Riba per day. Are you treating weight based?  How much was your baseline VL and ?

Thanks so much.

What a difference a day makes!  I am so happy for you and just think you will be in single digits next week and it will go pretty fast.  Soon this will all be in the past!

Have you lost a lot of weight with the hyperthyroid?

The TSH was low (.o1) and all the others were super high...Yup. Hyperthyroid...I'm on Inderal now (beta blocker) to keep my heart rate, blood pressure and corresponding body temp down (I was hitting 160/ min..Felt BAD...) I feel a bit better now with the meds...Dr thinks the thyroid will calm down when the txing is done...Hopefully no permanent damage is happening...
Yah!  90% is great news!  May everyone else here have the same! (((HUGZ))) ~Melinda

If your labs came back really HIGH then you are hyPO not hyPER...that doesn't make any sense whatsoever...are you SURE you've got it right?  Don't they have you on Syntrhoid (I can't remember) they should have no problem getting them right in line - if you were extremely hyper that's really really DANGEROUS...can't they up the dose of synthroid (or lower it whatever)?

Anyway - 90% sounds great to me...let's pray it's more like 100% and be done with it! :)
