Advice for jmjm's love life

Well since you asked I'll give some womanly advice.  Don't anticipate or discuss potential failure to launch as that in itself can be a downer (no pun intended).  If the moment comes and you're not feeling it maybe you could start the tx talk so she won't think its her lack of attractiveness.  If she's wonderful and worthy of such a person as yourself she'll stick around and help you sort it out.  BTW, for many woman the "act" is overrated despite what the porno films portray.  We can't get enough foreplay!

Thats a sad thought, married people experiencing that.

Anyway if you have not been "involved" for a while, go easy on yourself. Given time, patience and a new found passion, along with the beloved foreplay, you might surprise yourself ;-)

You know, it's an amazing thing, and it always does seem to "work" even after extended times on the shelf. Then again, my trusty car didn't start the other day, so you really can't count on anything for sure. LOL. Just kidding btw on the married couple thing.

But I bet a quick jump start solved that problem ;-)

I knew you were kidding, those I'm sure to some extent it is true (about the married couples).

Thanks for the thread and good humor. "Failure to launch". LOL. At this point, it's all theoretical, and I guess the potential of a new relationship brings together several issues including what may be a declining post tx libido, a recent low testestrone test, and the issue of my "lost" year of treatment with HCV. In the past, things have always worked OK at crunch time, but then again, I've never had so much interferon pumped into my body before. So what's the worst that can happen anyway -- shame, rejection, humiliation, ridicule? I read that married folks experience these things all the time :)

All the best,

"testosterone levels are always measured in the morning because that's when they are the highest"

This explains alot!

Just spoke to my doctor and he asked if I took the testosterone draw in the morning, which of course (not 100% sure) I may not have. In any event, testosterone levels are always measured in the morning because that's when they are the highest and that's probably when I did my previous tests. I'll therefore re-test next week in the morning before making any decisions on supplementation. Apparently the morning levels could be double of the afternoon levels which would bring me back into the sexyman zone :)

I don't know what the deal is with you but I had have loss of libido since treatment. I don't have any erectile dysfunction etc. I think this is rather common among men who have treated. They don't talk about it maybe.

Yes, there were several threads on this awhile back, I think by Double Dose. My concern was mostly about a drop in testosterone from mid-normal (pretty good at my age) to below normal. It now turns out that it may have to do with the fact that I took the test in the afternoon instead of the morning. We'll see. As to declining libido, I think some normal decline would be expected at age 60 and hopefully the interferon has not added some years in that respect. Time will tell.

See my comment above.

It's not quite as black and white as you're portraying it.

Elaine,

I'm probably making a mountain out of a molehill on this, or at least that's how it's supposed to work :) Seriously, I just wanted to post to HR regarding the testosterone levels and my recent blood tests and how they might affect things like my metabolic syndrome, etc. The other stuff is just some rambling. IF and when that becomes a problem, I'll deal with it. No sleep being lost at the point,  but thanks for your concern as well as the others. So, I think I'll just shrivel from this conversation until HR has time to chime in with some hard scientific advice.

Happy Valentine's day to all.

Funny Cindy!

Jim: In the past, things have always worked OK at crunch time

That's some strange business - even by california standards?

Things that crunch:

Walnuts
Crab Shells
Beer Cans
Ice Cubes
Vises
Vices
Carrots
