Alternative Mediciine for IBS/Bloating, etc -- And Ellen Tonight.

Anyone heard of Amritdhara, an Ayurvedic preparation? It contains:
jwain (Ajowan or Carum Copticum) extract: 0.200 gms.
Pudina (Mint) extract: 0.050 gms.
Clove oil: 0.002 ml.
Camphor: 0.400 gms.
Eucalyptus Oil: to make 1 ml.

Any other suggestions welcome.

Just one thing. If Ellen starts dancing, I'm turning the Emmy's off tonight.

I have recently tried amritdhara for a long outstanding gerd problem(now  in my 4th year)having previously tried almost everything else
amritdhara works almost immediately to relieve stomach pain and helps to release gas
I have not suffered any side effects as yet after 2 weeks of taking the drops,
not readily available in UK I have only found one source, stock can take upto 4 weeks to import
one bottle will last about 2 weeks
give it a try it should not hurt you

MAYBE YOU CAN FLAG NICEGUY, SINCE HE KNOWS ALOT ABOUT HERBS. Has he been around at all? I don't remember seeing him for quite some time. I know you reached out to him, but I didn't notice any response. I hope he is okay.

I would just do the ginger tea, maybe the peperment oil, unless you are able to find the others easy. It does mention Milk Thistle though. You are probably taking that already.

Herbs may be used as dried extracts (capsules, powders, teas), glycerites (glycerine extracts), or tinctures (alcohol extracts). Unless otherwise indicated, teas should be made with 1 tsp. herb per cup of hot water. Steep covered 5 to 10 minutes for leaf or flowers, and 10 to 20 minutes for roots. Drink 2 to 4 cups per day.

Enteric-coated peppermint oil: one to two capsules (0.2 ml peppermint oil per capsule) three times a day after meals
A tea of fennel seed (Foeniculum vulgare) or ginger root (Zingiber officinale) taken after meals promotes good digestion
A tincture of equal parts of the following before meals (30 drops three times per day): valerian (Valeriana officinalis), passionflower (Passiflora incarnata), anise seed (Pimpinella anisum) extract, meadowsweet (Filipendula ulmaria), wild yam (Dioscorea villosa), and milk thistle (Silybum marianum

There are real advantages to living alone. My kids try to come home so much more now since I started tx, and last night my daughter and husband told me how many times I tell them the same story. My daughter said she has a rule that she'll listen twice but will say something on the third go around!

Thanks for the site. I'll print it out. Yes, Niceguy did suggest a homeopathic regimen once, but maybe it was for GERD, not IBS. I'll flag him in case he's looking at posts today. I was just curious about Amritdhara since I came upon it doing some research. I did pick up some peppermint gel caps the other day on the recommendation of the gal at the local health food store and actually took one a few hours ago. Drank home made ginger tea till the cow came home but didn't seem to help much. One of these days I'll get around to making a doctor's appointment. Hope this finds you well.
