Amantadine as tx for Hepatitis C

Has anyone done any research on using amantadine in the treatment of Hepatitis C.  I am interested in alternative treatments (or hopefull upcoming treatments) that have been shown to be effective and have found some articles on this drug.  I am in my 50s and have been recently diagnosed with Hepatitis C, stage 2 scarring and have not begun treatment as of yet.

Welcome to the forum. Studies indicate it doesn't add anything to standard treatment. Here is the conclusion to the study comparing it to standard of care

"Conclusion: Response to triple therapy of interferon alfa, ribavirin, and amantadine was similar to standard therapy of interferon alfa and ribavirin. Our results suggest that amantadine has no role in the management of HCV.
