Another Nurse Mistake -Geezz

There's a message on my cell phone from the nurse stating she was going through my records and my maximum dose of Riba is 1000mg and I should be taking 5 pills, not 6.  So I have suffered almost 3 weeks taking the 1200mg for nothing.  How could she make a mistake like that?  I will be calling her a-s tomorrow.

I remember questioning her about the increase because I'm 128lbs and knew that was a lot of Riba.  She kept saying the trial wanted me to have the best chance to svr so I assumed it was Vertex increasing it, according to her reply.  Another mistake on her part.

I have been so diligent checking everything throughout all of this so these mistakes did not happen.  I guess to no avail though.  Another thing is she won't give me blood work for almost 2 months now, all she will do is read it over the phone.  I've just been to tired to fight her on it, like I did the first 4 months.

Unbelievable!

Tippy  OD's on Riba.  Lol !

Too much is better than too little.  There is an unvalidated thought that early ramping up riba could be advantageous.  Don't worry, you're still living and breathing and can still spell.

I'm not really worried about it, just ticked off at the incompetence I have experienced during the trial.

I thought it was a bit goofy that they would raise you up at the end.  It's not like you are assigned to 6,000 mg over 6 months.  I am a nut for getting the written copies and make notes for when I call the nurse.  If she calls because my anc is too low, I can usually remember to ask about the other goodies like platelets and hgb, but not always.

I'm going for 4 wk. post check on Monday and going to take an SASE for them to mail the copy to me to since I'll probably be out of town before they come back.  Results will be late but I'll be thrilled to sit down and read them when I get back.

There are such differences between the teams at the different study sites!  You'll be seeing them less than 1/2 dozen more times!

Yes its a real bummer that the medical field is what it is sometimes...along with an attitude that I notice the girls behind the desk always have. It sickens me.

However Im glad the extra Riba was in your favor!
Glad it wasnt the other way around.

Be well and a good to recovery!

Any way that you or Tom can get some answers from the doc instead of the nurse?

Do you have any bloodwork lab numbers taken after your 'overdose' of riba?

I called docs office today and hes out of town until Monday.  Go figure!  Only thing they checked last Thursday was the hgb and it was 10.9  went up a little.  Weird.

Tom came up with an interesting theory last night.  He said smoking lowers your oxygen level and with the low hgb I could be having a shortage of oxygen.  Maybe I'll not smoke tomorrow and see what happens.  Either way only 4 days left.

Can you not smoke tomorrow but also make sure you don't drive Tom out of the house, so he can keep a close eye on you? :)

Tomorrow's going to be rough with such a drastic plan, so best of luck, gal. Just tell Tom that after tomorrow's done, the riba count is down to three.

EOT for you is within inches and that should be about when JT does his last shot AND gets married.

Yes it is very true of course when you have anemia you don't have enough oxygen and smoking DOES cut it down farther (I'm a smoker who lost six full points hemo in just ten days and beleive me........I don't even think I stopped when I was fainting in the shower).

Good luck - I hope that you feel better you are SO CLOSE it's just ridiculous hang in there!
