AntiD

I have been ruminating about going on an antidepressant and have been advised regarding energy with wellbutrin...I've heard of others taking Paxill and I have no idea what to ask dr. for. Anyone have advice and could tell me why they chose the meds or were chosen for them and how it is helping during tx? I one was taking effexor a long time ago, but it made me feel very strange/speedy.

My doc put me on Paxill 20mg a month before I started treatment and I have NEVER once regretted it.

It's not just the physcial aspects of the interferon (which can be DEVASTATING to our mental state on treatment) we have a LOT LOT LOT of other stuff going on.

I don't intend to go off of it.  I have found that it's helped me TREMENDOUSLY with anxiety and I always have needed that!

I have taken wellbutrin off and on over the last 10 years as I had a major bout with depression back then and it was the only one that didn't make me gain a bunch of weight.  (the first AD caused me to gain 30 lbs in less than 6 weeks) So when I was to start TX I told my PCP that I had better start some kind of AD , and he put me back on the one that worked back then.  But you are right about the energy it does give you that...  Keep in mind that one of the active ingredients of wellbutrin is caffine.  it really depends on how that affects you and you can try it out at a very low dose to start.  I take mine in the morning so as not to be kept up at night, I don't feel speedy (but it does help with the depression).  Recently my doc tried me on lexapro (for the teary, crying stuff that started with TX about week 12)  But I felt like it blocked my feelings entirely so I am staying with the wellbutrin.

I tried efffexor, and it gave me restless leg syndrome, and I retained urine in my bladder. That's not a medical dx, it's mine. I felt like I need to pee but couldn't. It was so weird. I tried lexapro about 18 months later and I liked it but puto on 40 lbs in 4 yrs. Dr tried to switch me to well-butrim, but it didn't help my anxiety issues. went back to lexapro, but decided that since I was off tx I didn't need a/d's anymore. I've heard enough bad things about a/d's I started feeling like a weeny for taking them. Cold turkey is not the wasy to quit a/d's but I didn't plan it out to well.
Back to the dr today and back on a/d's!
