Antibiotics don't work when on INF/RIB

by GrandmaA, Jun 28, 2007 12:00AM
Antibiotics often do not work when on Interferon and ribavirin. But I only have 10 more weeks to go and I will be done with that.
So, if you get any kind of infection while on tx be careful what you take. Dr. Gish told me I can NEVER take macrobid - it is very bad for the liver but it is stronger than the other meds. The second Rx gave me a terrible rash. So I'm on cipro now.

Google in z-pack and the liver. Found out its one of the worst for the liver.
My pd has been giving it to me every year for a cold.
Is one of the worst as far as the liver situation.
I cant take Cirpro or Penicillin I blow up!!

A friend of mine's elderly mother was on chemo and the antibiotics she took didn't work at all. She had a bladder infection the entire time. I have had one since June. I got rid of it a couple months ago and it's back again.

Thanks all for the antibiotic info.

Since i went out on DB and I don't see 200 kids a day, I haven't had any infections except an ear infection which is treated with anitbiotic drops.

It's one of the ONLY benefits of TX!  When i was teaching I had respiratory and sinus infections every month.

I'm hoping to remain infection-free by being a hermitess for the next 45 weeks.  *LOL*
