Anyone experienced ringing in ears?

This has been going on for about 4 days or so, and it may not even be a sx from tx, but it started about the same time I did my 9th dosage.

I asked my NP about tinnitus, and she said I could have my hearing tested but that nothing could be done about it.

Glad you got that riba thing straightened out.  Things should start looking up for you (i mean us, lol!!)

When I started taking the riba twice daily instead of once a week, a lot of things seemed to clear up, the ringing being one of them, anxiety and stomach problems lessened. I also had a upper respiratory infection, which I am on the 4th day of a zpack.

My ears would get the feeling you get when a plane takes off and reaches high altitude.  I always wondered what that was about.

Yes the ringing started over the weekend and I was blaming it on being outdoors in the sun all day, but my hemo is 9.6 and might be even lower by now so that might be the cause(?) I did do the Procrit shot, though it was more like the "bubble shot" for me, I had a hard time getting bubbles out - probably just me, but it was annoying to no end..

But anyhow, keep a good eye on the hemo just incase that is what the ringing is from.
Take care,

Tinnitus is usually experienced as a single tone, but not always.

Although anemia can cause tinnitus, the most common cause is high frequency hearing loss.  So prolonged tinnitus should prompt someone to visit a doctor.  I have high frequency loss that my doc thinks was caused by interferon.

is ringing in ear the same as feeling pressure in ear? sort of like hearing water running.

Anemia can sometimes cause of tinnitus and while it's ribavirin-induced anemia - ribavirin impacts your hemoglobin/hgb levels - it's still anemia.  I've had slight ringing in my ears at lower hgb ranges and to me when I was experiencing that, I knew things were a little low.  Now that doesn't happen to everybody but it CAN happen to some.   Another good reason to monitor that hgb.

Makes sense in my case because I found out at week 7 my hgb had gone from 14.4 to  10.1.

Thanks for the info.

Interferon can cause high frequency hearing loss (rarely) and that loss is often accompanied by tinnitus (ringing in the ears).  You should get your hearing tested.  It is probably nothing to worry about, but worth testing if it bothers you.

First make sure your phone is not ringing. :) I would guess your hgb is low. Thats a sign of being anemic. Best to you

Funny-everytime you post one of these threads, I am having the same problem.  I am one week behind you and apparently following closely.

The ringing comes and goes for me.  Seems to be worse at night.  I hope it doesn't last-it's kind of irritating. :-(
