Back from court!

Back from court!

Went to court today and ended up settling the case for a nice chunk of change and all future medical for stress. So it worked out well, I guess. I felt so lousy this morning from sx, that is was one of those days, I just didn't want to talk to anyone. Just leave me alone and let me get back to my couch, PLEASE! Do whatever you want, I don't care....so not the great type of attitude to have when dealing with a settlement and trial. Luckily, I didn't have to be raked over the coals and see my former employer and witnesses. This might not have worked well for me today. I was kinda hoping for that riba rage, where I can get in there and fight the good one! So perhaps tomorrow, I will feel differently about the settlement, but I think we came to a good agreement, and it's over. Now I can get on to the business of fighting to get my extention and meds! LOL Thanks everyone for your kind words today.

Yep, it's funny when I first walked into the lawyers office two years ago, all I wanted was to get my power back. I wasn't interested in money, didn't think I would get much...I know how WC cases are. NO money hardly. I couldn't go back to work, couldn't even drive on the freeway next to work and HAD to do something to prove that I was not going to be a doormat for this kind of treatment at the hand of parents, students and the administration. That was my goal. Well, it worked out much better than I expected! I figured in order to get my life back I had to fight against this abuse that happened to me. I was afraid to go out of the house, still am sometimes. I know tx exasererated this problem...little did I know.  I still am dealing with the PTSD and feel pretty good that I won! My lawyer told me from the beginning it is really difficult to prove a stress claim, well I did! That does feel empowering alone. Perhaps it will put the school district on notice that they can't allow this to happen to teachers. I also got money to go back to school and finish my masters, or even go to law school if I want. Or I could still call the district up and say, okay you see that the doc's say I can't go back to the classroom, where are you going to put me? Not ready for that yet, but I hope to be in the future.

That is such amazing news.  I am so happy for you.

And you get to go back to school, at their expense, to study whatever you want?

(or, of course, get 'reassigned' to another position in the school system -DON"T YOU DARE!!!!)

I'm thrilled for you.

I am glad it is over and the result was good.

Friole and Honey; I don't know if it helped look like doo doo or not. At times I had my head on the table while talking to my attny. Not a great way to make important decisions. Luckily, I trusted him and my husband and went with the "deal". Even seeing the judge I didn't have the energy to talk much to him or ask questions. Hope it all is okay. I am glad I had an attny that knows what he is doing with these kind of cases and I did rely on him.

Mike; Thanks for asking about feeling better. I have been having fevers that really seem to wipe me out. Not sure why we get fevers at this late stage. Do you know why this would happen at week 44? At first I had really low temps like 95 degrees. Now they are low grade high, like 100-101 degrees. It seems interesting to me why this happens, just a sx from the meds? I haven't seem you for a bit, hope you are doing well!
