Just to follow up, I did email last night, and got a confirmation that they reset your password a while ago but I was in Huntsville this morning so I didn't see it, I'm so happy to see you back online again, and I hope it wasn't too long before they saw the emails and got you back on again.  I figured they might not see them til this morning :)

MedHelp was ahead of all of this. Elaine's possible reinstatement was not in response to any of the posts or correspondences we've been involved with. MH emailed her yesterday in which they stated that they would like to reinstated her once some issues got reolved - but she had neglected to read it. So, I think we have good people in the administration and that pleases me greatly. Mike

I just said on another thread that the guys at MH are not stupid and they will realize what is wrong here and it sure ain't Elaine!  YAY!  YAY!  

But what about banning the correct people.......obviously everyone here has been watching what has been going on and although most have been able to stay out of it it's MUCH more common knowledge than I had ANY idea (although I did realize when it happened to me a few weeks back and I got so many notes and PMs I thought I was going to get fired from all the mail coming in LOL).

Well - maybe if we are mature and just ignore them no matter what they say they'll realize nobody wants to deal with this hatred and they'll go on their own? Oh no scratch that...that was just threatened last week and only lasted a few hours right?

I just spoke with Elaine and it appears as though she could be reinstated if she contacts MedHelp. She hadn't seen one of the messages from MH in her inbox which stated that they would like to reinstate her but a few issues need to be addressed in order to do so. Elaine assured me that she will contact MH and try to get everything straightened out so that she could have her membership reinstated. I want to say that MH was extremely measured and, from my perspective, rather kind and considerate in the email to Elaine. I am very impressed with them and I think I probably judged them too quickly and too harshly. It was an unusual situation to say the least. So the news is:

Elaine may be reinstated soon!

Elaine got banned? What in the world is this forum coming to? There isn't a single person here as sweet, and supportive and kind hearted as elaine, and that's a fact. And even if medhelp admins don't know that, they can simple peruse her old posts going back for years now. If she wigged out on someone, all I can say is that they must have REALLY had it coming - I can't even imagine her becoming angry like that unless some butt nugget was really pushing her buttons in a cruel and sadistic way. Cripes medhelp, get with the program and bring elaine back. This forum has really deteriorated over the last several months, and here's just the latest example.

I really appreciate FLGuy saying that I am not to blame. Several members have told me that too - Elaine being one of them and of course, her absolution is the one that counts the most. I doubt anyone will be surprised that she doesn't blame me in any way because that is her nature - she is a far better person than I am. But, I know that I was wrong. I really didn't realize that the author of that message was referring to Elaine's Son but I should have. I should have reflected on the rightfulness of making that poison public. He certainly didn't deserve to have any affect whatsoever on anyone here and especially not Elaine. I acted hastily and thoughtlessly and I am thoroughly ashamed of my behavior. And what is worse is that my thoughtlessness has prevented Elaine from getting the love and support that she needs so badly right now. She acted as any Mother would have acted when confronted with such a venomous attack on her and her Son. She should not have been confronted with it though and I bear full responsibility for the fact that she was. It is I who am to blame when this whole episode is considered in the larger picture. I cannot escape the responsibility for Elaine being banned. But, MedHelp can correct this situation and I believe that they should do so and if that means banning me, then that is what they should do - and do it immediately. I would gladly change places with Elaine because she really needs this place right now. This is a really great place despite this episode. The vast majority of members here are caring and loving people and they're smart too. Elaine exemplifies the good here and I think we all agree about that. I implore the administration to do the just and compassionate thing and reinstate Elaine's privileges here very soon.

I didn't see that thread, but I am appalled that she really is banned!  They can't possibly do this over ONE incident. I have gone up against 300lb men over my sons, no different here and what happened to whomever did that to her?

Elaine, we're not going to stand for this, if you continually went 'off' that's one thing, once over something so serious is just wrong! I've seen many go off, behave badly over FAR less. If your not let back in, I won't be here. It's very unjust, unfair with all your many caring, loving past post and help here!

Thanks for writing to MH. I wrote to them also. I feel responsible because had I not posted that message none of this would have happened. She needs this place now more than ever. She never said a cross word to anyone before this and until she saw an attack on her Son. What loving and dedicated Mother wouldn't react like that?
If anyone should be banned it should be the author of the message and me, for posting it.

Elaine is one of the most thoughtful and caring people on the forum.  It is rediculous to ban her; the forum will become a desolate place if this type of heavy handed moderation continues.  There is a fine line between moderation and censorship.  

Personally, I think this board has crossed that line.  I am unaware of a situation where censorship has had a positive benefit.  There is some immediate satisfaction when someone you are angry at gets banned; but in the long run, it is better to hear it all than to try and filter out unpleasant comments.

I do think that trolls and frauds should be banned, but not people we judge to be unpleasant.

I wrote medhelp last night and asked them what's up.  I personally hope they remove the ban.  I understand that they may have rules standards that must apply uniformly not only to a few.  I hope that some allowances can be made in this case.  Sometimes a ban could be a temporary ban.....such as for a week.  In effect that can be like putting someone in "time out" while you get their attention.

A few things that I'd also mention;  This is a great forum and one thing that people may like about it is that it IS MODERATED.    IF there is an issue if someone offends you greatly....then give the management/moderators a chance to fix it.  We see evidence that they do take care of issues.  One needs to give them time to do so.  

Next, we can all serve as moderators in threads we are active in.  IF someone is getting out of hand....or a topic becoming too heated we can sometimes take actions to defuse it or to PM a person and give them some off line support.  Sometimes threads can need to be reported before a free-for-all ensues.        Help them.....help us.  : )

Ultimately, we have to moderate ourselves.  We may know that certain topics can push people buttons.  It can be hard enough to sometimes talk about some HCV related news, whether "occult HCV", to treat or not treat, alternatives etc.  Personally, sometimes I think some non-HCV related subjects we should just take a pass on if we know people are getting riled.  It's about the "greater good" of the forum.

My 2 cents...... I suppose that anyone is free to write Medhelp or start a thread on "reverse the ban" thread.  Urge them to read her many past posts, realize that she is a valued contributor and had a brief (and perhaps an forgiveable) lapse.

Well, I noticed that "ballistic incident" yesterday and I don't care. All of us can lose it a bit if we are not treated right. Childangel brings so much light and support to this forum and will be greatly missed if she is not allowed back in.

Actually, she did get a little ugly with someone who ridiculed her son.
She went a little ballistic with the low life who hurt her in the worst way possible.

She knows she's banned.....and at this point doesn't care. She's still mad about what happened.
She just wants everyone to know how much she cares and appreciates all their help and support.

I got 'locked out' several times during a few week period. It was a 'glitch' and also password problems (1 would get a message from someone here , they'd change, e-mail me, than another would get another message, change agian....arrgghhh!)
  No way she's banned!! She's NEVER nasty, out of line.
  IF she was, I'd boycott!!

LadyBug...send a message to med help for her, ONLY you tho as that's what kept happening to me I think. (several messages, several moderators getting them, etc.)

it's probably a glitch.  It's happened from time to time with different members when updates have happened I think, but really frustrating.  One of those annoying technical errors.  I'll email the powers that be.  Wait, I only have the addy for one of the powers, so if anyone has the email for the others it would be great if you could email them and get them to try to fix her up so whoever gets the email first can fix her login.
