Chronic Viral Hepatitis

by PanamaJones, Sep 20, 2007 01:09PM
I am 46-years-old man and have just been diagnosed with Chronic Viral Hepatitis Cirrhosis of the Liver Grade I-II, Stage III-IV, and Esophageal Varices. I have not had a drink in 15 years. I am a diabetic type 2. Is there something out there that can help me, from what I have read on the Internet it looks like I have about 5-years left. Is that accurate? What can I do?

My spouse has HepC and cirrhosis; tried interferon and did not respond after 3 mos so they took him off it.  He's on the list but his Mel score has remained low while he deals with the fatigue, fog, itching, aching, depression etc. so no chance of that anytime soon that I can see.  Also has large esophageal varicies.  Anyway, things that have helped:  Most definitely milk thistle.  We attended a support group where he was the only patient not transplanted - all said they had survived by using large amounts of milk thistle.  It has seemed to help.  We also use Honso Liver Kampo after researching all the ingredients - like licorice.  He has all-over muscle cramping that starts in his toes and rolls up through his body - does anyone else get this?  Quinine sulfate has helped with this.  The itching in unbearable - I would love some good ideas on that.
