Cool things about being single.....

Cool things about being single.....

As I put on my macaroni and cheese for breakfast today ... one of the cool things about being single is that I can eat *whatever* I want for breakfast and there's nobody to give me grief about that!!  (It's high fibre mac and cheese, okay??:)

You know, Trish....that's an excellent point.  My husband got really tired really quickly of me trying to serve Watermelon Licorice for dinner 15 nights in a row.  What's up with that?

hepcD.....and you never have to fake it, lol!!!

The licorice phase was right around the time of the White Spinach Pizza phase...now we are in the Twice Baked Potato phase.

Can you guess who's NOT  getting skinny on tx????

Nobody to tell you how to (or how not to) spend your money.  The bad part comes when it's time to paint your house, or do some other "man work". If you have no man, usually a whole lot of money is involved in order to get it done.  I've been known to eat ice cream for dinner. Very little work involved with that.

My kid eats cereal for dinner all the time. I had this conversation with another mother many years ago. We concluded that it is fortified with vitamins, so what the hell, let them have Coco Puffs for dinner if they want. Hell, it beats a blank!

Thank God the hubby is not picky and likes to cook too... we like the same food and eat healthy. If we don't feel like cooking, we grab some bread and cheese and a fresh salad. I mostly wash lettuce, ruccola and other leaves and store them in the fridge ready to use and pre-make 500 ml of lemon/olive oil/etc dressing which I store in a bottle. Shake and use....
Of course on tx it was another story, but I didn't have to think about anyone else, they were thinking of me.... I had my share of apples only days. That was easy cooking... lol...
I'm so glad it's over .... and I'm enjoying standing in the kitchen cooking up a storm again... ;-)

Not having to share the bed or the remote are my guilty pleasures.......and getting home every night and putting on my oldest most beaten up sweats and not worrying what anybody thinks of how I look! Oh Ambien-Sleep-Eating and waking up with Oreo chocolate on my face and having the only one laugh at me be my son who really doesn't care!  :)  Ah the life!

Thanks for making me feel better about being single Trish, sometimes we do forget the simple pleasures are the best (only now I really want some mac n cheese).

Yeah, the remote!  I was talking to a married GF yesterday about that. It brought back the days when I was with my daughter's father. We got home from work at like 5 am and he immediately turned on ESPN Sports Center. Thank God I like to read. He also took over my side of the bed. Now I sleep on the WHOLE bed. It's a king and I lay on it sideways (can see the TV better from that position)!  What a great thread! Thanks Trish, for starting it. Sometimes I get lonely and forget about all the positives about being single.

I traded the single life for the best Hubby ever...Yes...d*** it, I have to share the remote...That was an adjustment but we worked it out (I bought a laptop). He gets the tv in the living room but I get the one in the bed room...and I don't mind sharing the bed...Hubby is Super Delicious anyway. =0

Okay...you married people talking about how great it is to be married, get outta my thread. :)   This isn't trashing being married ... this is for the single folks to appreciate some of the little joys we do have in being single.  While I'd love to have a partner, I'm still going to enjoy my single life and there are certain things to appreciate that go with being single.

Like ... getting to watch whatever I want on TV - like Coronation St. if I want to! ;->

Apache - having friends with benefits is one of those perks of being single if you choose to go that way.

jacksonblue ... I share my bed with my kitten.  She's two years old but she's only going to grow so big and she's got to be the cuddliest kitten ever.  She tucks right in and lays her head and paw over my arm.  No matter whether it's on the couch or in bed, she comes and tucks in beside me and curls up.  Soooo sweet.

Gator...meant in a lighthearted way - no worries.

Sleeping on the whole bed? What do you do with the pile of laundry?

Why didn't you gals mention not having to return the terlette seat back to its proper upright position?

Things I miss most about single life:

1) Never having to go to the fridge for that "midnight snack" to find it already gone;
2) Never having to look for a remote control I never used;
2) Never having to say, "sorry I'm late HOME," and
3) Never having to check the position (or moisture content) of the 'terlette' seat.
(And when marriage completely consumes my sane mind, I won't even remember those...)

moisture content of the 'terlette' seat.

If common decency alone won't get you to lift it when you're done, you'd thnk a few squats onto the slippery slope would condition you to use your "inside manners" when there's a man about the house!

She's not a girl who misses much
Do do do do do do do, oh yeah
She's well acquainted with the touch of the velvet hand
Like a lizard on a window pane

The man in the crowd with the multicoloured mirrors
On his hobnail boots
Lying with his eyes while his hands are busy
Working overtime
A soap impression of his wife which he ate
And donated to the National Trust

I need a fix 'cause I'm going down
Down to the bits that I left uptown
I need a fix 'cause I'm going down

Mother Superior jumped the gun
Mother Superior jumped the gun
Mother Superior jumped the gun
Mother Superior jumped the gun
Mother Superior jumped the gun
Mother Superior jumped the gun

Happiness is a warm gun
Happiness is a warm gun mama
When I hold you in my arms
And I feel my finger on your trigger
I know nobody can do me no harm
Because happiness is a warm gun mama
Happiness is a warm gun, yes it is

Happiness is a warm yes it is gun
Don't you know that happiness is a warm gun mama?

PS I´ve been a single to darn long!!

I use to love that song and when my mother heard me singing along with it she asked me " Do you know what it means"  At that time I did not.  Unfortunately, a few years later I knew the meaning all too well, and here I am today.
Blank

The meaning is double at least with the word trigger lol!!

I must say in a way I´m enjoying  single life sometimes too much.

But i really long for someone to drink tea with in the morning and who I just like to have  near.
Maybe I´m old enough to choose, using the right criteria by now!!

But Trish is right we got to remind our selfs some times of the benefits because who knows, maybe some of us are gonna stay single.

Really, it's all about being happy where you are - married, single, wherever.  Since I'm single, I started this particular thread.  I could focus on the things I don't have.  I prefer to focus on what I DO have.  I will be happy to find someone who fits the anomaly that is me.  In the meantime, I'll enjoy the simple pleasures that are mine.
