Fatigue

I was wondering. Me I'm diagnosed with genotype 1 and I'm a non-responder. Lately I'm botherd more and more by fatigue. Are there any of you with the same problem. Will it get worse, or is it liable to periods? Who's got experiences in this field?

With love

Hi, welcome here :)

I suffered bad fatigue for about 3 yrs. before I got the Hep diagnosed in May 07. I believe many of us had that symptom with Hep. Also a lot of muscle pain, achyness. The fatigue got so bad I'd be in bed all day many days. It was on and off, some good days, some bad. The best I can tell you as your not treating now, again yet is to rest as much as you can and eat as well as possible, good healthy foods. Try some good vitamins, liquid is best but watch the iron content. Hep C and high iron don't mix.

You'll have good days, just cut yourself slack on tired days.

Best to you ahead, LL

Thank you both for your comment. Centrum vitamines are without iron? I'll try some. And Lady Lauri, must be weird not knowing what caused the fatigue and yet feeling so tired.

Not all Centrum vits are without iron. I think the ones without iron are called Centrum Silver... for ppl over 50

I also had genotype 1 and experienced very bad fatigue the entire time I was infected. The only things that really helped were (1) vigorous aerobic exercise at least 3 times a week, (2)  a healthy diet comprised of plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, lean meats etc, and (3) avoidance of vice like refined sugar consumption, smoking, alcohol, drugs etc. Adhering to these lifestyle choices will do more to help your HCV fatigue than any pill, herb or supplement. The fatigue probably won't go away altogether (didn't for me anyway), but it should help alot.

Otherwise being successfully treated for HCV can also diminish or eliminate fatigue altogether. I was successfully treated in 2006-2007 and have been virus free for over a year now. My HCV fatigue has vanished after being plagued by it for almost 25 years. For me getting rid of the virus was a miracle cure for my old friend fatigue. So don't give up hope for being treated successfully again, just because you failed once that doesn't mean you'll fail again. They're developing and testing new drugs all the time that are significantly increasing the effectiveness of existing drugs and increasing the cure rate. Keep an eye on them and learn all you can - you might find your way to a cure one day sooner than you may think. Good luck...
