Found a fix for the dry skin

by dperry10, Feb 07, 2007 12:00AM
My skin has become so dry since starting treatment.   I was putting on lotion every morning after the shower.  And this morning I tried some Oil of Olay , in the shower body lotion.   Its the one with ribbons on it.    It made my skin soooo soft and smooth.   I think after using it a couple of days its gonna make a difference.  Will let you know how its working.

my 4yr old has light childhood excema and i have been using a lotion her pediatrician prescribed her called mymex, or mimyx, i'll check the name when i can trudge up the stairs. it's a deep, rich emolient and it has been helping me some. i also use this tub of shay butter i got from walmart. it's thick, almost like an oil, but it smells great(mango or cocoa butter) and it works well on my dry feet, and it's cheap! also, neutrogeno sesame oil in the shower or bath is very good. i have had really dry skin since i moved from california to new jersey 6 yrs ago. i guess all the natural exfollients california had like the sun, sand and beaches(salts), used to keep my skin in much better shape. now, with all the heaters and cold winters, i am an alligator! good luck!

I make sure to moisturize more than once a day...with Gold Bond Anti Itch (green bottle).  Once a day after showering just wasn't enough. The more I lotion up the less I itch.

I use Oil of Olay on my face :) Maybe that's why it doesn't itch!

I tried EVERYTHING too. Literally - went into the pharmacy and bought every tube of every product I could think of one night I was so desperate.

The thing that helped me the MOST was believe it or not - Calamine lotion.

I thought about it and since it was SO itchy it was making me try to rip my skin off just like when I hear people have poison ivy (the one thing I don't get it seems) so I got it. It was so cheap compared to all of the other betadine type medicational things I bought.

Well it DID help dry it up and it DID stop it from itching pretty much.

Of course it wouldn't go away until I got the prescription...I went in to my hep doc (couldn't get a derm appt for weeks either) and when he saw it went NUTS and said no you call them back and tell them you need to be seen TOMORROW (it was already 6pm)

Did you try calling them and telling them this is an emergency I must be seen immediately on an emergency appt before this contagious problem is all over my body?  Hey I don't THINK it's contagious but who knows right? You need to call them and make them understand you CANNOT WAIT you are getting worse and worse and worse and might end up infecting somebody else!!!!!!!!!!!!  ;)

Seroiously - call them now.  In the meantime if you have any calamine put that on and see if it will help.

I would not have been able to wait. No way.
