Fudgicles

Before I started txing almost 10 weeks ago I heard alot of you discussing fudgicles and ice cream.
I have an almost unbearable sore dry throat and burning that has started at week 3. Its driving me crazy. If I eat it burns and hurts and rather uncomfortable to the point I dont want to eat. It goes away for a day or two only to return again.

Anyway, is this the reason for you guys eating fudgicles and ice cream??
Thanks.

Yep thats what I have . Its NOT sore. Just dry and raw. Its fine for a few hours then it comes back. Really horrible. Certain foods burn. If I drink Peach Green Tea its the worst.
My throar just feel like sanpaper. Like I have a lump in it all the time.

No its defitinely not strep..just DRY due to tx  and the esophagus heartburn thing to add to it. Thanks both of you for your thoughts.

I will try a humidifier next.

I dunno Charm.... I may be in the boat with you on this one. I started tx Jan 4 and this past week I have noticed my throat being irritated. I ate some chili ( have NEVER been overly sensitive in the spicey foods dept) and I felt the heat from my stomach all the way up to the back of my throat. Last night I woke up to what may have been heartburn. I had a spinach and mushroom pizza around 4 pm. Have never had an issue with that either so I am unsure. But, still my throat feels raw. Like my entire esophagus is raw.
I do take the pills w/food and milk.
Think I may need my own Fudgecicles!! Course... Dreamcicles are yummy too!!

There is also a bout of Strep throat going around.  So maybe the best bet is to go to the doctor if those remedies do not work.   I took the Mucinex during treatment as well, and had the LPR just before starting TX, doc gave me nexium to take for that and it helped.  This was by the same GI who I had thru tx.    I have not really had any issues on the throat part since then.  Dry yes.. but sore no.. and my issues with swallowing were .. ahhh  had to say, since I had that issue trying to get food down sometimes, cuz it would make me sick., may or may not have been from the meds.. maybe just the hep.. but who knows.   Last night I wrote out a long journal about my journey since treating the first time.  Now I keep thinking of other issues that happened that I did not list.   Now that I think about all the little issues that developed after tx the first time, it really makes me wonder if those were caused by the tx or just the HepC, as I was going to the doctor all the time for a while with issues, and they just of course treated the issues as they came up.    Eventually I gave up on doctors, as they could not find an underlying cause for any of this.

But try the saline and mucinex or the generic and see if that works. but you may want to check out the strep.. as there are like 4 people that I work with that have it.   I try to stay clear of them.. and make sure I use Germ-x constantly.

I sometimes irrigate or use saline solution a half dozen times per day.  it really helps.  I have bad allergies and chronic sinusitis as well and have to use the humidifier in the cold months.  Don't know if you need it in Florida although AC dries out the throat and sinuses, too.

I gotta say, i think mucinex is very helpful.  My ENT told me about it.  You can buy generic versions much more cheaply.  it's called guaffinissin.

I know what you mean about going to the Dr. about every friggin' thing.  You just can't, unless it's an emergency.

PS - I also find that talking as little as possible helps a lot.  Seriously.  if I try to have a phone conversation or even an in-person conversation those sx get worse.  that's one reason i can't work.  I (was) a vocal/general music teacher.  *LOL*

Thanks Wyntre. I will try what you suggested before I go to doctor. If we went to the doctor for every sx we would be quite busy, and I despise doctors unless absolutely necessary.Yes dry throat not sore I will try the saline solution.

I went through a heavy-duty popsicle phase, then creamsicles and finally an ice cream sandwich binge between weeks 24 and 36..

I had very dry throat (nNot sore) and found that using a humidifier, nasal irrigation, saline solution and mucinex all helped a lot.

Also, Ricola throat drops are good.

If the throat problem persists you gotta see a Dr.  Could be an infection.

You might want to get your throat checked out by a good ENT doctor to rule out bacterial infection and/or Laryngopharyngeal Reflux (LPR) I had LPR for much of treatment and in the beginning it was so bad I could hardly swallow. PPI's like Nexium are often prescribed if that's the case.
