Going to Cedars in Miami manana

by charm27, Feb 28, 2008 03:31PM
Well its a month and 2 doses of antibioics later my throat is a little better. However it looks like the color of a fire engine truck. I was referred by LJ to see Dr. Groisman the board of directors of Cedars and the head of ENT dept. My throat is still bothersome and making me a very irritable person, since even drinking water sometimes burn and forget Pizza I saw stars that night.
Being I have a fear of doctors (lucky me) this makes it all more stressful and difficult and I am the biggest chicken that ever lived as far as doctors. Im on week 15 Friday and this all started 5 weeks ago. I will let you know the outcome.
Obviousy from the meds...............Just hoping there is something they will be able to give me for the discomfort without reducing my meds. I defintely dont want to do that.

Part of the reason I am so glad your going is it may not sx, it maybe tonsilitist or bad adnoids or something.

Maybe brought on by tx or maybe pre exisiting,

The one postive is that you are a lot of fun when your cuckoo! (kidding)  I know you are really suffering. That it is no fun!

So sorry your feeling bad. I hate sore throats....Warm salt water always works for me.

Hope it's nothing real serious - Hang in there!

Haven't seen about this (or have I ...memory is where??)
That has to be rough, very annoying. Understand on the driving you coo coo, looking every hour. I had a lot of sore throat, discolored tongue, but always cleared up with the nystantin mouth wash. Hope you get it cleared up. Don't worry on the Dr.s, better to get to the bottom of this.

Good luck, curious to know what could last this long.

My throat was bad too but it turned out to be GERD, not anything to do really with the throat per say.  Some people don't feel the heartburn, GERD, reflux (whatever you want to call it) they just feel a sore raw throat and it gets hard to swallow.
My husbands GERD is like this, his throat would always hurt and was very red and raw.  Turned out when he had his upper and lower scopes it was GERD and daily Prilosec stopped it.

My raw throat is caused by the tx and meds but I feel it in my esophagus too.  I'm glad you are getting it checked out. Hopefully they will find the reason for it and get you on a good med.
to take care of it.
Feel better...

I had a terrible sore throat for 2 and 1/2 months. Redness all over especially tonsils. It was a yeast infection. Sometimes it is hard for DR's to diag. for some reason. I always felt like there was something stuck in my throat and if I was able to hack it up it would be bloody phlem.
With me the antibiotics would clear it up and then come back worse. This was another sign that it was a yeast infection. With me it went away when the ENT gave me floconazole AND I ate YOGURT twice a day. The Fluconazole didn't work by itself.
I hope they get to the bottom of your problem.
