HCV pain medication

I have non-responsive HCV with cirrhosis along with chronic pain in liver and in joints. I have tried Ultram ER 100mg, Ultram 50 mg, Naproxen EC 500 mg 2 x day, and Plaquenil all with no avail. Now Hydroco/Apap 7.5 2 x day which works but causes liver pain. It also indicates right on the RX that it may cause serious liver damage, which I certainly don't need. Any suggestions on an acceptable pain medication not metabolized by the liver? Also, I am considering a new maintainance Infergen treatment for the HCV to keep it at a low viral load. Any input on this? This is in a trial stage right now from what I was told. I am not sure whether I should consider it. Is increased liver pain expected with cirrhosis? Any input on a supplement called Liv.52/Livercare by Herbal provider.com.

How many do you take of the hydrocone, one every 12 hours? Many here on tx take tylenol to relieve pain but the amount is limited to 2 gms in a 24 hr period, which would be 4 pills @ 500mg. Is the tylenol actually causing liver pain, or do you have the liver pain anyhow?
Tylenol has gotten a bad name, but most dr's have no problem with us taking it while on tx.
I tried to look up the other drug, but couldn't access it. Have you heard of  SAM-E? Sounds promising, and a friend uses it and believes it helps her.

If your doctor is ok with you taking NSAIDs, Vicoprofen (or generic equivalent) has the same dosage of hydrocodone as you're now taking, only compounded with ibuprofen instead of Tylenol.

You might try acupuncture for pain. It helps me.

I take darvocette n 100 3x a day for back (degen disc disease) i have 2 bad discs and I used to get the shots but stopped when i started tx. it has 650mg of tylenol in it and it does help. :)shelly
