Had my liver biopsy yesterday

by trunkmaker, May 23, 2007 12:00AM
Tested positive for Hep C about 2 months ago. Had my liver biopsy yesterday. This waiting game is tough. My wife is being very supportive & has tested negative. I have no clue what to expect & am at the point where I'm not sure I want to live with this disease & become more of a drain on my family. I don't really have a question just don't have anyone else to talk to. Thanks for listening.

I think you need to educate your self to this disease.  My husband went through treatment five years ago.  The first month he was really tired and the interferon cause depression.  The doctor got him on antidepressions and he was fine.  We started exercising three time a week which they say helps.  This was not a burden on any one in the family.  He has showed no signs of the virus since treatment.  He become the head of the U.S. for an international company since treatment and is doing great.   I have my biopsy tomorrow.  I am scared.  I don't want to go through the treatment either but I will. The treatment as I understand it is not as bad as it was five years ago when my husband went through it.  I have to much to live for as I know you do to.  Hang in there.

I know how you feel as I was diagnosed a few weeks ago myself.  It is hard but being positive will help the most.  Did the biopsy hurt?

WE WILL GET THROUGH THIS!!!

The biopsy was much easier than I expected. The only pain was a little sting from the local. The biopsy was painless.

I reproduce 17th & 18th century trunks & cases & build some southwestern art furniture. Thanks for the response. It helps to know we're not alone. Was just informed I have gen 1 with a viral load of 440,000.

It's a long road either way.  I hope you can get rid of it.  With good support at home, you have a great start.

Best of Luck.

Thanks for the info.  I have not done the biopsy yet.  It is hard not knowing the impact on your liver.  Did you have any symptoms when you first got diagnosed?
