Hepatitis C and Ibuprofen

I have a hip condition called bursitis, which I'd dearly love to get rid of. One of the most effective treatments for bursitis is to take a sustained course of NSAID (non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs), with ibuprofen being the preferred choice. I have Hep C, have done for nearly 30 years, I am a non responder to conventional treatment, with genotype 1. Is ibuprofen a complete no no for someone like me with hep c, or is there a 'safe' dose?

Generally my hep c is manageable, I exercise regularly, mainly with running (hence the bursitis), my liver has some scarring but nothing too severe, viral load was about 2 million last time I was checked, only note of caution is that my ALT has been steadily rising and I believe ibuprofen does have a negative effect on liver enzymes.

Any help / advice much appreciated.

Have you had a biopsy yet? I'm grade 2 stage 2...1a and my doctor told me I could take 2 Ibuprofen for pain every 6 hours. Are you on tx? Some have to worry about bleeding and stomach issues. I've heard it causes some trouble with their kidneys.

That's all I know... plus it works much better than Tylenol for me.

Tylenol and ibuprophen are both bad for livers. In fact tylenol has caused people to have transplants. Having said that, some people tolerate it without problems.

HCV is such a stange virus causing effects from none to death.
Sorry, I don't know anything about bursitis but if it were me, I'd look into other alternatives.
