Hip, hip, hooray! I'm done with tx. What to do with unused meds?

Because I've been UND since week 4 (genotype 2), and because I'm suffering from a disfiguring autoimmune skin rash (morphea scleroderma) which has grown worse on tx, the doc today told me I'm finished after just 13 weeks of treatment.  My chances for SVR are almost as good as they would be at 24 weeks, so I'm praying and also planning to eat nutritious foods, get regular exercise, etc.  I am very much relieved to be off the Peg-Intron and riba, and the Procrit.  But here's my question:  What should I do with my leftover meds?

I have a box of 4 vials of Procrit, still sealed from the factory.  I also have 3 Peg-Intron Redi-pens.  All have been appropriately refrigerated.  I'd hate to throw them out when there are people in need.  Any suggestions?  Does anyone here want them?

Well, congratulations! Def don't throw the stuff away, I believe FlGal -- see her post (5 threads below)might need some meds. If not, ask your doctor or the hepatology department of a teaching hospital if they can use them.

So glad you're thru if you reach svr post everyday so some can decide if it's worth it to shorten tx. As OrphanedHawk said earlier, these numbers are arbitrary.
I-horn feeling any better lately?

Thanks Jim, for thinking of me.  I think I have the med situation straightened out.  They are supposed to be sending it to my doctor's office for delivery tomorrow. One can only hope.  The last time I had a defective pen, it took me two weeks to get the replacement because they said they sent it to my doctor's office, but they had sent it to my mail-order pharmacy plan, who didn't know why they received it.

At least that time, I had other pens to use.  This time, I'm SOL.  And, the Shering people made me make a jillion phone calls from work today, for which I got in mucho hot water, arranging deliveries to three different places, then after all that, they decided to send it somewhere else and Schering made all the arrangements, so I really never had to make one of the phone calls they had told me to in the first place.

*insert rant*  I have worked at this office for two months.  I have never made or received a personal phone call in all that time.  The other two front office people who work with me are making/taking personal phone calls at least 30% of every day.  What is their effen problem if I have to make a few important phone calls one day?  I was also doing all of my work while I was on the calls, nothing fell behind, and I did not talk on the phone in front of a customer.  I hate people sometimes.  *end rant*

Anyway, sorry for the rant, and THANKS for thinking of me.  I'm going to try to make it without the Procrit until my next refill.  I can't go through another day like today.

Stinks to have to work with people! Rant all you want, that would make me mad too! I love people, but not co-workers!
When do you get blood drawn again.
24 tonight? I don't watch it so not sure of the day it's on. Maybe you can sit back and relax tonight.

When I first started neupogen some here helped me with their extras. It gave me a bit of breathing time to get things moving. If you have the space, I'd keep them for a while and see if someone here needs them. I wish I could open a second hand med store!

I will definitely keep posting and let everybody know whether I achieve SVR for the requisite 6 months.  I have a hepatologist appointment in a month, to be preceded by a PCR and a CBC 10 days before said appointment.  So I'll let you know the results, every time I test blood or see doctors, until they declare me "cured."

I'm glad to hear that you guys are also departing this rollercoaster ride a little sooner than expected, though I assume that it's because you're also experiencing excessive sides.  Let's all keep in touch regarding the outcome.  Here's to SVR for all of us!

Again, hats off to everybody here who endures 48 or 72 weeks.  You are all heroes and deserve the world's best health for the rest of your lives.  Not even pimples or colds.

love,
pigeon
