I am really tired...

of sweating and freezing AT THE SAME TIME.  Please give me my metabolism back! lol

Seriously, when the hepatologist told me to go off the meds, right after that he said, better get your thyroid checked because... and I said yeah, already done.  And its fine.  So is my one little ovary I have left.  But still, I never had this weird thing with my inability to regulate my body temp properly until a while after I started treating.  It is driving me nuts though.

This was an interesting post, I'm glad I found it. I do have thyroid and RA issues before I even start TX but all the sides you mention hit home. My body does not regulate temp. I sweat so much at night then wake up freezing needing to change my jammies at least 2x's a night. I have been to the doc many times for this secondary to lack of sleep causing signs of depression. I am also in full blown menopause so who knows what is what. My doc just gives me more and more pills and I don't like to take all those meds but I need my sleep desperately. The weirdest time was when I was sweating while swimming in cool water. I hate it at work, it looks like I am freaking out. I wonder if Hep C exacerbates all these symptoms? This has been going on for years now!

Although I do have thyroid problems they have been corrected with the meds but I had that problem too.  I felt completely like I couldn't regulate my body temp at all when it was hot it gets BOILING hot...when I'm cold I get FREEZING cold.

I don't know why.  But I get completely miserable. A couple of times this winter when it was like zero degrees I had to go outside and stand there for 20 minutes without a coat on after doing a simple physical task. And then vice versa.

I don't know why but I wish it would stop - I don't think it's the thyroid though because mine should be a-ok with all the synthroid.

In case you missed this thread...

Not sure how helpful my post is in that thread, but it does reflect my experience and that of some others post treatment. In short, you can sometimes run yourself ragged running from doc to doc post treatment, often to find the docs just shaking their heads. There is a lot they just don't know (or want to know) why many of us feel the way we do post treatment and time is often the best healer although not a guarantee.

I am so glad I popped on the computer tonight and checked some of the posts out. I have been having some really wierd post tx issues also. I am now post 9 months of the 72 and my thyroid went back to normal finally about 2 months ago. I also have hot cold episodes but haven't checked my temp. I have had extreme fatigue and swelling in the joints badly. I went to md and he thought i had bursitis in my knee. Did 2 weeks of nsaid's and the swelling still comes and goes. Then my ankle started to hurt to the point it was keeping me up at night. He started me on a painkilelr and wants to see me in a week to draw labs fore lyme...please.....I had him draw tsh and free t4 and they are normal...weird stuff...I hope we can get some answers soon. wishes :) shelly

Its good to know I'm not alone at least.  I have had them test me twice for thyroid function and for hormone levels.  (The latter just to make certain it wasn't some type of menopause thing),  All of my levels are normal and the hormone levels match levels I had drawn prior to tx.  I never had this problem until I'd been on tx for a little while.

I mean last night I was freezing to death and had to wear blankets and at the very same time my skin was moist and perspiring at the same time, which then made me even colder because.... well, you get the idea.  This went on for a few hours.

My body is so screwed up right now (not that I regret treating, I would do it again tomorrow presented with the same circumstances I was in, plus if anyone new is reading this, I had some preexisting conditions as well that made my tx a little more difficult), but anyway, that I want to find a doctor who can handle all of the issues and I can't think of what type of doctor that would be.  Because my hematologist doesn't seem to know as much as I'd like.  And I don't even know what type of doctor that would be, an immunologist? an endocrinologist? a rheumatologist? a neurologist?

I've had the same problem for years..its so uncomfortable!  Sorry to here you're going thru the same thing post tx.  Mine was prior to tx and since I've been treating haven't had the problem.  Hope it doesn't come back....and hoping you all can find out what is causing this and treat it.

best to ya...Darla

I get the same, sweating and freezing.  Now 8 months post tx.  I got my thyroid checked but tests come  back normal.  Meanwhile my body temp is way low.  There was a thread recently about this if you have a search.  Seems it is quite common among us but nobody can quite figure out what's actually going on so that we can get it fixed.  If you succeed PLEASE POST the solution,

All the best,
dointime

I've read here and elsewhere that treatment can bring about an early menopause, but honestly haven't researched it much for personal/relavancy reasons.

1st, glad to see you back and hope you are doing well.  I too, have the same symptoms since stopping tx,now 20mths,its enough to drive me crazy.  Iam not sure if it is menopause (doc says it is) or thyroid.  Ive had my thyroid checked multiple times and always comes back normal.  I have never had my blood drawn when these "spells" are occuring . I often wonder if my thyroid function is up and down.  Sometimes my throat feels full and i get a little hoarse, but the next day it is gone.  Ive got an appointment with my pcp next month and iam going to get an answer. Does your body temp drop when you get cold? mine goes down way below normal.... Again glad to see you back...Leah. Let me know if you figure this one out.
