Insurance woes GRRRRRR

I just needed to vent a sec I found out last month that I can only now get 4 weeks at a time of my meds (I was able to get 90 days for 1 co-pay) and now they are not even eligible for the 90 day/ 2 mo co-pay for the company that mails those meds.  I can get that with my non-hepC drugs though thru another mail order pharmacy.  

The thing I am soooo PO'd about is that I take 60,000 units of Procrit a week 1 -40 one day and 1 - 20 3 days later and the Pharmacy wants to treat this as 2 prescriptions for 1 drug because they don't come in 30's.  Not fair!!!!!  I already feel like I am getting ripped for all the money I am now having to pay out.  I just finally got to quit paying the COBRA.  I guess if they can't stick it to ya one way they'll get ya another...... Thats all my specialty pharmacy will send me , is 4 wks at a time.   I only take 10000 ul per week.  and with the recent report of procrit, my hemo would not give me my 5th shot yesterday, and I was just starting to feel better..   I am calling my Gastro today ..

I also got one month at a time. Frankly, having 3 months worth of drugs in my refrigerator would have been unsettling in case of a power outtage, etc.

As to the Procrit, not exactly sure what's going on, but consider asking your doctor to write a single rx for 40,000 units per week and then taking the shots once every ten days. Do check my math, but I think this will come out to the 60,000 units/week that you want to take. That's how I did it.

More troubles.  I am not surprosed about the 30-day presciptions -- most pharmacies are like that.  But I think they are in error on charging you for 2 rx's.  Ask your doctor to write the rx for 80,000 units a week even tho you only take 60,000.

I think Jim meant for you to do the 40,000 every 6 days ---- that would equal the 60,000 a week.

Sorry you still have such major anemia.  I am pulling for you.  What week are you now?

On week 33/48 Only 15 more to go!!!!!  I may have to have the doc do it the way Jim suggested or meant anyway.  I have to do something...  I did check today and the PPO said that if the doc wrote it for 60,000 units rather than 40 and 20 (which he did) then I should only get 1 co-pay charge But the Phramacy says different.  we'll see, I am stuck now paying it this time. Oh well by the time it gets figured out I'll be ready to endtx. lol isn't that the way it always goes. Hope all is good with you Take care

My perscription speciality pharmacy will only send me a month supply of this as well.  The regular pharmacy will send me my 3 months of synthroid and estrogen at a time. I guess it is the type of meds and cost.  When we changed plans in January I talked to who I have now (walgrens) and who I had before (express scripts) my plan now is $5 a month cheaper.  They do charge me one price for both.
