Is Hector o.k

Hello dear friend's,

I hope it's o.k to open a new thread. but I really wondering if Hector is doing fine.
I recently send a message to him for asking if everything is fine with him as it's been a while since he was online here.
Would very apreciate if anyone knows about him.

Marc, I read on another thread that Hector had a kidney stone removed, is feeling better, and is almost done with his current treatment.
Dee, I didn't know that crossroadsec had been diagnosed with cancer, and desrt, I didn't know that rivll is listed for transplant.
Thanks for the updates on both.

If I remember correctly I believe Hector already took Riba and Sovaldi without success.  Do hope this new Tx with the limited Oyslio will work.
Wishing you the best.

Thank you for the update on Rivil.  I see that Crossroads is posting on her support site, she has been diagnosed with cancer so is probably busy

I think that Hector has a couple weeks left of tx.  I hope he knows we are all thinking of him.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Olyssio one of the new generation protease inhibitors?  I may be mistaken.  I had thought that alot of people that were treatment experienced, who had been exposed to the first generation P.I.'s, had to be checked for the wild type resistance to the protease and if you were, then you weren't supposed to take the Olyssio.  I'm not saying that is the case with Hector, as I can't remember what his status was with that.  But, one of the biggest reasons why I didn't go with the Sovaldi/Olyssio combo when I was being given my options, was because after discussion with Dr., it was decided that it was likely that I would be positive for the resistance wild-type since I had rebound virus when I did the Telaprevir.., but also because while on Telaprevir-I had a huge problem with the rash.  So, I chose the Sovaldi/Riba/Peg route.  Others have gone with Sovaldi/Riba for 24 wks.  I'm thinking that if he's unable to tolerate Olyssio, that maybe he'll be fine w/just the Sovaldi/Riba x 24 wks?  At least he had a short period of time w/the Olyssio, and that may have been enough.  I'm hoping he's doing better. He's such a trouper! Susan400

Thanks for the update. That first year post transplant can be difficult. I actually was surprised they started him on treatment so soon, but, hey, I'm not his doctor.

Hi Rexx.

Rivll is listed for transplant. The HCC has not yet returned after her TACE. She is doing OK and sends her warmest regards. She can no longer post on this site, but send me a PM, if you wish, and I will make sure she gets it.
Thank you for your concern.

Magnum, thanks for the update.
I have been missing him on here as well.  At the beginning of this month  he said he was having problems with his tx.   He recently sent a note to Paula saying he was watching the games.
I hope he knows we are all thinking of him.

Just got off the phone with his sister. He's been having a very difficult time with his treatment. I think she said it is Alysio? They took him off it. At any rate, he is doing better after the weekend and should be back on the board soon. She said when he feels lousy he often becomes reclusive. I can relate to that. He's currently on Ribavirin and some other drug. I'm sure he will post the details soon...

As he's doing treatment, lets all hope he simply isn't online or maybe, he's watching the world series. S.F. loves their home team.

Hi there Rex
I've also been wondering the same thing as I haven't seen any comments from him lately either.  Kinda concerned, as I know that he's recently begun
Tx for his Hep C.
He is an invaluable person and friend to so many and his lack of presence is
greatly felt.  Hopefully he is taking some time away to focus on getting thru this next hurdle while maintaining his renewed health.
Lets all hope that's the case, and he will have some good news to share with all, in his ongoing quest to eliminate this virus for good.
Must say, he is surely missed.
.....Kim
