Is this an injection injury????

Is this an injection injury????

After i finished the injection, pulled needle out, there was enough blood that I had to use a bandage.
I for got to pull plunger back a little to see if any blood had gotten into syringe.  Any possiblity i hit a blood vessel?  Thanks for any feedback.  Jenn

Happens from time to time. Probably hit a capillary or something. Not to worry. A lot of people don't pull back the plunger before injecting. I didn't in the beginning because I was afraid I'd pull the whole thing out. The trick I found was to stabalize the barrel with the other hand, while pulling the plunger out gently. A third hand would have been even more useful, but never there when I needed it?  One trick though was to twirl the plunger a little before starting the whole process. That loosened the barrel just a little bit, and made pulling it out a little easier. Practice makes perfect and by the time you get it exactly right your treatment will be over :)

The same thing happened to me on my last injection. I just assumed my blood wasn't clotting as quickly as it use to.  I actually have a wonderful friend do my injection because I can't do needles. He was really concerned about it but I don't think its anything to worry about.

The first time, when my nurse taught me the injection, she never mentioned pulling the plunger a little before push to see if it hit blood vessel.  So I injected without pulling back untill my 20th injection, my daughter read the pegasys instruction and see me injected myself she said I did it wrong that I was supposed to pull slightly before push.   I tried on the last 2 injections, both times I see blood when I pulled the plunger(on thigh and tummy) . Don't know what to do, I just pulled the the syringe out and reinject different area WITHOUT pulling the plunge.  I called my nurse, she said that the needle is too small to hit any vessel that is why she did not mention to me.  I heard that the tummy has no blood vessels, so from now on I'll inject both Procrit and Peg on tummy without pulling the plunger, but I am worried if it is a good idea.  It is very stressfull every time I think about the injection !!!
