Kinda Gross but I have to ask... lol

Hi everyone! I know this might be a little gross but I have to ask. I went to sleep last night and I felt normal ( I did not feel sick ) and I wolk up at about 3:30am drenched in sweat, Now this was not normal sweat from sleeping this was sokeing wet it looked like I poured water all over my body. I had to change clothes it was just so bad. I dont know if i was having a nightmare ( I dont think I was) But has anyone ever sweated so badly while on treatment?

VERY VERY common - I used to wear fleece jammies and the water didn't really absorb so when I'd sit up it would literally pour all the way down me.  It ws horrible.  However I never got any underarm type sweat...it was more like someone poured  gallon o fwater on my face and chest.

I'd totally forgotten about it now.

I went through this for most of my tx. I began keeping fresh pj's at the foot of my bed. It drove me crazy too because I rarely sweat. I am 2 months post and occasionally it still happens.

Hey Deb, How are you??

Yeah thats weird cause it was not underarm sweat. It was like my whole body was perspiring, my arms my legs my neck my chest and even my hair was drenched. Totally gross.

You obviously haven't seen anything really "gross". That's nothing. Mike

Yeah, what mike says, doublestuff. I mean have you ever been inside of a stale portapot on a construction site in August? Now THAT'S gross.

You just made me laugh. As part of my job I am required to visit my clients sites which is quite often a construction site. I ALWAYS make sure I stop before hand to avoid the dreadful PORTAPOTTY. Its bad enought if its an emergency and I have to show up on site in my suit wearing a hard hat, safety glasses,  steel toes  boots with my brief in hand (keep in mind what I must have looked liked while on tx)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not on tx but have the occasional night sweat ever since I was diagnosed with Hep C.  At what I believe was my acute period, I had DRENCHING sweats for about 10 days straight, in the middle of winter, with very few covers on the bed.  They subsided after the 10 horrible days, but I do get milder ones from time to time.  My doctor says this is from the immune system fighting the virus.  Unlike you, however, I am a heavy sweater, during daytime/exercise too, always have been since my teens/adolescence, I think it's partially genetic (I come from a family of sweaters).  I should say perspirers, I guess!

merlino: Good to see you, especially with that image you painted. Dressed in a suit, hard hat, construction boots with your briefs in hand - thanks for the post.

Harry:  Family of sweaters?  Real last name must be Cardigan.

I know exactly what you are talking about too.  It happened alot of the 48 weeks of treatment.  Tomorrow is my last shot.   I can remember changing my sleep shirt 3 times one nite, and finally took a dip in the pool, just to cool off. and that helped.     But the strange thing is, since being on treatment.  I no longer have underarm sweat.   I do not even have to use deoderent.   It would pour off my face and neck.. wake up soaking wet on my head, like someone dumped a bucket on me.

But I do remember my post tx from 14 years ago.  I started sweating like crazy at work.  Keep in mind, all dressed up in suits and dresses, type of dress code.     It was so embarrasing.   I never even thought of taking leave from work back then.     So hope that doesn't come back like that.

Yeah and I actually used to work on contruction sites. I had no choice, sooner or later you had to go, and when you did, it was FACE THE MUSIC TIME - AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!  And then there were these big fat guys that drove 1973 Nova's and they drank a case of strohs beer the night before and then would eat like 5 egg salad sandwiches. And then they'd go in there, and they were so fat they couldn't really sit down all the way. Oh man, I can't even DESCRIBE the frickin aftermath!!!  Imagine a shotgun filled with bean soup! As Marlon Brando said in Apocolypse Now: "THE HORROR!"  Oh and then there's the graffitti to go with it! There was almost always a very crude child-like drawing of the site foreman performing fellatio on some of the workers with all sorts of comments added in (with dyslexic "S's" and "E's" usually). Oh man I definitely do NOT miss the ole construction site porta pot in August syndrome!!! PHEWWWWWW!!!!

Lexapro is pretty notorious for doing that at the very beginning.  It goes away.  Tx drugs can also do that or some combination of the two but I suspect yours may be the lexapro because its just such a common reaction to that particular AD.  If you ever forget your lexapro for a couple of days it can happen again too, but if you take it regularly it goes away and you shouldn't experience it often.

I take lexapro 20mg and wellbutrin 300XL daily.  I used to take adderall (adderrall) also but I'm told to abstain until my blood count gets better.  There is some concern about my heart handling it right now - which I agree with.  I'd actually stopped it prior to my doc telling me to do so.
