L-Trytophan and the Liver/Hep-C

Has anybody had any experiences with using L-Trytophan for help with the sleep issues?  Some of you newbies may not be aware of it, but I, at present have not been on treatment for the past 8 mon.  I have had sleep problems for years, but they were aggravated by the Hep C treatments that I've done.  I was wondering if any of you have ever tried L-Trytophan.  Is it safe?  I was thinking, that perhaps, since it's mentioned with regard to eating turkey, that maybe it might be a harmless remedy to my sleep problem - if it was to work.  Anybody have any knowledge about it?

Actually, I think I may have mispelled it.  Is it L-Tryptophen?   Anyhow...

I sometimes take 5HTP (L-5-hydroxytryptophan) but for improving my mood, not for sleep, instead of anti'ds.  However, the 100mg dose did make me sleepy so I switched to 50mg dose.

When I have a sleep problem I take melatonin, 1mg a half hour before bed, for several days and that seems to get my body back to a regular routine.  When you do that, go to bed at the same time every night and get up at the same time in the morning, giving yourself a full 8 hrs sleep at least.
