Lexapro and xanax

I finally went to my GP. He put me on xanax for the anxiety and lexapro for the depression. So far ,day one the lexapro seems to be physically tolerable. Just please let it help this depression. I have mentally fallen into just a bad placeI can't imagine treating this way. Has anyone else had experience with taking Lexapro?

Yes, I took lexapro 10 mg per day during my first treatment and it worked well.  You probably won't  feel the effects right away. It takes about a week or so before it kicks in.

It kick in that soon. I hope it does for me.I haven't started treatment yet and can't even begin to think of treatment feeling this way.

My doc put me on ADs a month before I started treatment I have to think it helped alot or I would have been a complete basketcase.  It sure did make things easier to tolelrate like a problem would come up but I'd be thinking "Oh that's ok I'll deal with it later no big deal" instead of the usual frantic panic I approach everything in life with.

So hang in there it does take a few weeks to fully kick in but it should make things much better for you.

Thanks. I hope it works. I can't eat..Hoping that's just a side effect that will go away soon. Losing to much weight. Have an appt. tomorrow with my hep doc.

It can take up to 6-8 weeks for you to see the full benefits of the drug, although you should notice some sort of difference in about two weeks.
