Long time no post

Haven't been around since the first of year, Hepo told me to get off my butt and the net as i was becoming to obsessed with HCV. When i had to go on sick leave i was either on here or looking things up.

He said the stress on the heart wasn't anygood and that my BP kept going up. I did find when i was able to get out, that it took my mind off HCV.

Have thought alot about all of you, Sorry to see all the new names as it just mean more fighting this stinken virus. Don't see alot old names so i hope their all SVR.

Did my 72 weeks but Hepo left it up to me on tapering off these drugs. Have three more weeks of tapering down then i will be through with this stuff.

I'm a geno 1a, slow responder, had a 3 and a half log drop at week 12 and was clear by week 24. Bx, stage 4 and grade 2 to 3 Cirrhotic with mild to severe activity. Also type 2 diabetic. Overall tx has not been to bad, alot has had it worse.

It is so nice to see you again. It's been quite a long tortuous trip - has it not? Well, you're almost finished and I am hoping for the very best - SVR. Be well Zack, Mike

Wow, great to hear from you.

Everyone's been wondering what you are up to and how it is going.  I certainly understand about getting away from the computer - it can raise the BP.  My NP and doctor didn't want me on either during treatment.  BTW, I have been SVR since treatment.  Coming up to my 1 year post.  Time certainly flies by.

Great to hear from you!

Well it's about frigin' time.  I can't believe you waited til you were about at week 80 to come back! And what is this about taking a leave from work?  You know, since I got off tx I have eaten about all the ice cream in Texas and was going to work my way up to Indiana!  Got any left over coupons?

Your memory is in tact I see (or did you take notes about all of us).  I think I will email Fisheress.  She hasn't been on in ages either (you were going to be her pool boy, as I recall.  Do you know, she went to airline stewardess school after tx and is a stewardess, of all things - from yacht sales to stewardess - (why does she get all the exotic jobs).

Welcome back Can Do.  I hope your re-entry into the land of the living goes smoothly and you can roll with those grandkids again.

side note -- I heard this was happening and it finally happened to me.  I had to re-sign on and reset a password.  First time in the 2+ years since I have been here.  So, Cuteus -- where are you???? did I spell it right this time?

Kathy, didn't know fisheress is now a stewardess. Let her know i'm still her pool boy and let her know how to reach me if she wants. Just don't tell beagle or his tail will get wagging and want her to take him for a walk. Hope he moved closed to a fire hydrant so he can mark his spot. Didn't want to scare my customers anymore then i already did, still pop in and see the ones that understand.

Cindy10, So how ya doing? Was glad to see your name. I still don't behave but i'm working on it.  NOT

Do you hear from Strator, Dale-Ray, Beamish, those were the fun and funny days.  I miss reading all the post that would make me laugh til I cried.

Still waiting for that Cadillac ride with Strator and everyone else, down the Vegas Strip. LOL  I promise I will still be the hood ornament, I could also still be lady in a cage. LOL

Hope you can keep posting now and again. Wish we could schedule a day with all of us and just post and laugh all day.  I really miss those days.  Laughter is such good medicine.

Hope all is well and have a great weekend.

I have not heard from Strator in a long, long time.  Wish he would show up and let us know how he is doing.

I am going to go for labs this weekend for my 6 month post PCR. YIKES!!!!
I am a little nervous after all that has been happening in my life lately.

Held off on getting this done, I had my husband with his second bout of Hodgkins and he had to go through Stem Cell Transfusion.  Boy, we think our counts drop on tx, I was totally amased at how low they got for my husband.  The regiment to stem cell is aweful, the counts go to almost 0.  It had me thinking at times, if the disease doesn't kill him the treatment might.  He was doing 900mg of Nup a day.  His joints ache and still do at times.  Good News, he is doing WONDERFUL right now.  He will get a 3 month Pet Scan to see if all activity is gone and then another one at 6 months.
As soon as he got out of UCLA I had to go for a biopsy for a lump on my rt breast, Had surgery and all was Benign, thank god.
All is well now and we are on our happy little way of life.

Have A Great Weekend!!!!!!

OMG, i cruise by occasionally, glad I caught this!!   Really counting on SVR for you.  I go Tuesday for my 3 monther...and I'm actually hopeful these days!!  Its Alien days in the land of manana, also hold a VW rally, so the thriving burb of Roswell is full of beetles, bugs, and some with UFO's on top!!  I avoid it like the plague...once you've seen bigfoot, a lil ol light in the sky don't mean squat...New faces are sad, but it is so nice to not see alot of oldtimers, that means for a lot of folks that they are on the mend and on the run.  Did you hear Friole came to see me!!!  It was a great surprise, and hopefully we'll hook up again...she warned me but boy am I porkin it on these days...still eating like on tx, but hungry for a change- up 12 lbs.  So glad you gave us a hit, check in soon!!

I have thought of Cuteus many times.  Last I heard she was enjoying her birds.  Sure do miss her down to earth posts.  She was a 'no bones' kind of a gal.
Blank

anise - I miss Cuteus too.  I think after being SVR for a year she decided she must let this site go.  It is like an obsession, as we all know.  She was deeply involved in helping her youngest find a college, last I heard.  I wish we could set up an old - timers day to check this site for those of us who no longer want to be here daily -- like maybe the first of every month would be good.

cando -  yea, fisheress said she was going to do it, and I didn't think she was going to follow through and then she did it!  Can't remember the airlines.  She was hoping to get stationed at San Antonio, but  ended up with a home base in LA, of all places, far from her Roger and Tiki dog. This may be just during the training days - we don't have much contact anymore.  I did email her, but I don't know how often she checks her mail, not being at home a lot.  Life changes after tx, that is for sure.

I am just so glad you are finishing up.  I am elated for you.  What a long ride it has been.  How does the wifey like the new skinny you???

I do like the idea of a first of the month thread for oldies.  Oh that is in and hour and a half.  Does this count?

Fisheress - hi there.  Wish I could flip down for the 4th party.  soundsl like a ball.  So do you have any time to go out deep sea fishing with all this busyness you are having.  Know what you mean about those pounds!.  I thought I would be slim and trim by now not waddling like a penquin.  Beagel has posted the last couple of days. Maybe someone needs to email him this thread.  I don't have his addy.

fishdoc.  I bet your frogs are singing pretty in the full of the moon.  Hubby took a picture of a collared lizard yesterday.  It is hard to believe anything that beautiful lives in the rocks in W Texas.  I am going to email the pic to you - you old herp you.

Canman - you are really bringing out the fine folks.  See how you are missed!
Took the grandkids to the batting cage tonight.  They were too afraid to do it.  Oh well, better luck next time.

WELL HELLO ALL!  Gosh so good to see (hear) from everyone!  Thanks Kathy for emailing me about this post!  CANDO!  WOOHOO!  Can you be here for the 4th of July?  Big pool party coming up but hate to say that I hired a new cabana boy (and girl) so you will have to just come join in the celebrations!  We watch fire works over the bay every Friday nite from the pool and will be a doozie on the 4th!  COM'ON DOWN!

Sure have missed everyone!  Yes, as Kathy said, Flight attendant now.  Not so exotic and most defiently not as glamouris as people think but it's a job.  Training was BRUTAL!  I thought tx was hard?  Hell, I could at least just go to bed and forget the day if tired.  It was not only exhausting but taxed the brain something AWFUL!  Best way to get rid of the brain farts I suppose.....lol.  Hey, a blonde moment here and there but what the heck.

Coming up on 1 year anniversary next month and fat as a tick on a hound dog!  Just can't get the lbs off.  Thought running through the airports would do it but noooooo.  It's actually "run thru the airport, grab fast food and go"!  Not going to do anymore testing for HCV, done with that.  I would rather not know and just go on with life.  Mind you I was neg 6 months post so in my mind I STILL AM!

Take care all and continue to know you are all in my thoughts and prayers!

OXOXOXOX

(((Hugs))))

Avatar_m_tn
Hi Honey, (you know i have to say that) Its not really maintenace, but tapering down off these drugs. My weight base when we started was 1200 a day of riba. When i hadn't cleared at week 12 we went to 1600 Riba a day, my hgb tanked to 8.5 and the procrit the highest it would bring it up was the low 10's. So we went down at week 24 when i went UND to 1400 Riba a day and stayed there.

I've lost almost 50 lbs on tx. Most of it early on. So i was still over my weight base. This tapering down was left up to me by my hepo. My thinking was staying UND at lease another 8 weeks and then if i had a relaspe it would be at lease 90 days off the meds before i could get into a study with one of these new drugs if they pan out. They take us people with Cirrhosis last as i won't go this route again. Too many weeks with to low of odds.

Well honey,:) hope you and your hubby are doing great. Thanks for the post as it doe's help.

Honey, I nearly fell out of my chair when you asked Can-do what he accomplished in those 72 weeks.  Too funny.  I can tell you what I accomplished --- zippo.  absolutely not one thing.  IT is like we are in some land of the disenchanted for the tour of duty.  Nothing - absolutely nothing gets done during that time.

Scott -  me too.  Waiting on the new meds.  That 24 week course sounds absolutely dreamy, doesn't it? Since I relapsed I have just been finding all finds of little things to blame hep C on - joint pains and stuff like that.  Still, no sense in going the same route again.

Can-do -- on to the allstars, huh?  That is quite a different deal than my grandkids.  Granddaughter (5) may have some talent.  In T Ball they still use a pitcher positoin to field the ball.  Of course , they are terrible throwers and catchers so the bases are always loaded and the play is always at home.  Ellen had the part down (when she was pitcher) to run to the plate before the runner, BUT SHE NEVER HAD THE BALL!  She never did grasp the part that it was the ball that had to beat the runner.  They were all too funny.  Don't know that my body could have handled that much baseball on Riba.  Good luck.

Sooo nice to see your name again. You prayed once for my SVR, and now I am doing the same for you.
Lots of water under the bridge since you left, lots of changes, and life certainly has not been the same after tx.
I thought you were going for the big 2, what changed your mind?
Glad you are tapering down, bringing your body slowly into balance again.
Remember those dancing shoes and the trip to Santa Catalina?
Oh yes, good times, they are coming.

Beagle - saw you wer back but hadn't said "hi" yet.  Hope you are well.  I think it is not the Riba you don't want to take during your next tx but your daughter's organic cooking. ha ha .

Honey - you know how it is when you have surgery and you think you are doing just great during the recovery.  Then you look back when you are well and realize how bad it really was?  THat's how tx is now that I look back at it.  Yes, I managed to walk my 3 miles for the first 5 months of tx, but things really did fall apart.  ANd habits are hard to restore.  It has only been the last month or so (10 months post) that I have begun walking 3 miles a day again.  And I still have not managed to motivate to lose weight.  TX really did impact my life.

Ina - how very nice to see you here.  Are you doing well?  Are some of your skin issues finally resolving?  I always enjoyed your posts and hope your post tx life is full and happy.

LoL... My house really DiD fall apart...Literally... & it seems that all I ever did was spend all my time repairing it (what a waste of effort & precious energy that tuned out to be).. So much for my patch jobs on TX...Ha!

Must be why I hate that place so dearly now & why I never want to go back... the possums moved back in (so I heard) & we're hiring contractors over the summer to replace ALL the floors...LoL

I hear folks talk about looking back at TX, & it seeming like a blurr... but ya know... that BLURR impacted me enough, to the extent that some things are permanently ETCHED into my mind... I have battle scars & post traumatic stress... Ha!

Not quite friole. Still many post tx sides, which I post occasionally.
But Southernboy keeps telling me....I take all your post tx sides and more in exchange for SVR.....and I have to agree. Just need a little reminder every so often.
The worst are the mental issues and the Celiac disease, which makes traveling almost impossible.

The scar on my breast is almost gone. Just had my 6 month follow up mammo, and in another 6 month an probably an MRI.
I rarely read on this site, I almost missed your post. Thank you for asking.
