My Clinical Drug recalled

My Clinical Drug recalled

Well, my clinical drug was recalled by the manufacturer, after 22 wks of tx. This was a phase 2 study. The mfg. had just received fast track status from FDA. Oh, well, at least I will continue with Interferon/Ribavirin until the end. Hope I am still negative after my next bloodwork in two weeks. I wonder which sx will subside/go away? I know......none.

Wyeth, HCV 796, orally dosed (800 mg/day) non-nucleoside polymerase inhibitor. Was told by staff potentially toxic to the liver. In this case...the cure was worse than the disease?

I don't know if they've released your LFT's to you.  Ask them when you can now to be unblinded and ask about your LFT's.  If you can't get them released you can go to a doctor and get your own.  You may have to be careful about releasing the information.  If you were the control group it's a mute point.  If you are clear and have no LFT issues you may also be good to go.  Some, but not all trial participants had liver toxicity issues.  The severity and consequences are yet to be determined.

Listen to the info on the webcast and talk to your study coordinators about your questions and concerns.  I would also consider posting on the "other side" of this board as I feel that this is a treatment related issue and that you will get better and more responses .

Best wishes,
willy

I am on the other side of the state, above Philadelphia. Don't think we are supposed to post doctor names, etc but I am going to Albert Einstein Medical Center (I think this is safe to post).
