My visit at Cedars with the ENT

Everything is good! Lymph nodes, throat, nose, checked for reflux by looking down my throat. It was a nothing procedure. My ears are totally dried out and my lips are bleeding so he gave me something for that. As far as the throat issue for the past 30 days obviously the tx made my immune system weak and thats why I needed 2 Z-paks in 3 weeks. He advised me that everything is perfect and I dont need to come back. Meanwhile my throat still hurts but its obvious now its INF and Riba induced.
If anyone ever needs ENT google Dr. Horacio Groisman he was really great! @Cedars in Miami.

Forgot to add, so sorry about your dad - for me its 42 years later but feels like yesterday.  Mom, on the other hand, is about to be 92 and looks like living forever.  So I guess there's some kind of cosmic offset.

be well

Started this morning, sweetie. :)  Gave myself my first injection.  I'm feeling really good about that.  It didn't even hurt.  The thinking about it beforehand really IS harder than the actual.  And then these three bottles, X, Y and Z along with the ribavirin.  Amusing to my weird sense of humour.

Yes.. thank goodness this forum exists.  I wouldn't manage nearly as well without it and all of you.

Charm.. you are so funny ... "I just let it rip and bleed away!!!"  You inspire me.. through all your hardships, your sense of humour remains.  I thought of you often today, actually, while I was at the hospital going through the paces for the first day of the trial.  You just hang in there, Charmgirl.  "You're gonna make it after all!!!"

Hugs to you, sweetie.

Wow, you're allergic to antihistamines too!  My only known allergy is Benadryl, drives my doctor nuts!

Carmex is great for the lip thing - medicated but does not sting.  Also, I still have lidocaine ointment (leftover from radiation tx days) which numbs the pain on contact, try asking your doc for some.

Deb-Im so sorry about your parents......its unexplainable....and yet its life's cycle.
Its been quite a hurdle for me to get over my dad. I never will.

Thats funny about making the snicker sound naaaaaa I just let it rip and bleed away!!!
Im not allergic to any food either...just every antibiotic and antihistimine and it goes on and on.

I am the same, antibiotics allergies, seems I am allergic to no food, just drugs!
Ok so question charm, does that mean when we laugh, you make that snicker sound like that cartoon dog?  So you don't  have to open your mouth?

Loosing your parents on the serious side is the hardest thing in the world.  My dad passed away when I was twenty, I miss him now still every single day.

Mama died 5 years ago. Was also so hard and the same.

Hugs you all!

I'm glad you are okay overall and nothing really serious going on.  Hopefully these creams and such will give you relief from these extra irritations you're going through.

Keep drinking LOTS of water .... take good care, Charmgirl.

The Z pack is antibiotics. Im allergic to penicillin and everything else it seems so thats all I can take to get rid of infection. Its called Zithromax.

I NEVER got a sore throat before tx.A humidifier, naaa I would have to suffer more to to that. I never do what Im told. Im a non-conformist!

Im sorry to hear about your dad.....I lost mine not long ago and life will never be the same. I miss him every waking second and never will really believe he's not here.

I will have the lip stuff filled at the drugstore and hopefully I will be able to smile without bleeding!! Yipee!

I just woke up and my ears are so dry there all red on the outside ow. What a sight to see.!!!!!!!!!!!!!

oh humidifier! I should have thought of that!

My lips are horrible!  I use  A LOT of blistex!

Z packs I think are antibitiocs, very powerfull ones you take sort of like steroids start with say 6, everyday you decrease it.

I may not be right, or confused with something else.

JD you dove? your awesome!

oh smoothie away, icky when the riba sits in your belly!

Have you tried putting a humidifier in the room when you sleep? It will help a lot with your dryness!

I use Carmex for the lip thing - I think it got worse in Mexico, maybe from the rented regulator at the Scuba Dive shop (dove on tx before but this time it was a mistake!)

My earlobes don't hurt yet, just bug me and look strange.

Had my tonsils out in 1966 when I was 8.  It was horrible, (made much worse because my dad died suddenly the first day I was well enough to get out of bed), they used ether in those days and it made me sick as a dog.  The smell of old-fashioned nailpolish (ether) still brings that memory back like it just happened.

Trying to gag down a yogurt smoothie now, like a moron I took riba with just some juice and now I'm REALLY sorry.  Cluck, cluck.

Oh me too! I am forever sticking lotion in them!    this morning I woke up  and i thought no! Let me sleep, (not a good night was up and down)  but my ear was so bugging me I had to get up!

It is not fair I tell you!

I still have my tonsils also. I was one of the few kids who had a Doc who did not buy into the have them removed whether they need it or not!

Till this tx, i never got sore throats either tho.

I am a chicken too!   maybe we should be clutcking hens?  for a day!  Jd is a clucker too! (joking)

you too with the ear thing? The name of the stuff is DermOtic Oil (fluocinolone acetonide oil) 0.01% Prescription only. For itching. dryness, redness anf flaking of the ears.
Its drops for the inside of your ear. I cant even put my ear on the pillow to sleep....really bad and all dried out and itchy.

Ask the doc for it he said its good stuff.

Glad you're ok, sounds unpleasant, though.

What kind of oil did he give you for your ears?  Mine are ok inside but my earlobes are flaking off dead skin to the point that I won't have lobes left soon.  What a great look for a bald chick!!!

Thanks Deb. My tonsils are fine. In my early twenties I had tonsilitis quite often and even then after a zillions docs no one would take them out. If I had an attack of tonsilititis today no one would take them out either. They believe too much of a risk of hemorrage if not a teenager.

Anyway everything is good but the patient! I am relieved though..............glad I went it just took me  a month to do so. Im such a chicken! All they did was spray this stuff in your nose and put a tiny tube down your nose into your throat..no big deal. It was worth it to know all is ok,
I have skin falling out of my ears (ewwww) like its snowing but he gave me some kind of oil for the ears for that.

So its just from the INF and Riba............the sore throat from hell.

Hope your ok  and thank you!!

That is excellent news!  I thought about you all night, bee worried. Did he give you anything to numb up your tonsils? I was so worried they would say you need your tonsils out and have to stop tx.

Hugs ya
