HEPATITIS SOCIAL COMMUNITY

New Hepatitis Communities?

Hi,

We've had a couple of requests recently to create a few break-out communities from Hepatitis, and also the Autoimmune Disorders Community. Before doing this, we wanted to see what everyone thought about it. The suggestions, and communities we are considering are:

- Hepatitis A
- Hepatitis B
- Autoimmune Hepatitis

Each of these communities would be dedicated to that particular type of Hepatitis. This forum would remain as is.

In other areas, we've found this has worked well, but let us know your thoughts.

Thanks.

I haven't posted to this site in a while...just been busy...but I peruse every chance I get.  I have read several posts in the past, was getting worried about different side effects, etc, only to later find they are talking about Hep A or B, so I think breaking them up is a good idea.

Agrees with Romans, think it is a good idea,  it can get confusing sometimes, think  friendships can continue in the sociol side between all 3 geno types

I just received a message from someone I that I do not know.  I have copied and pasteed the message below.  I apologize for posting it here, but I did not know how to report it.  It is obviously from someone that does not belong here,

Thanks,

I think it would be a great idea to have and ESLD and/or advanced cirrhosis and an alcoholic hepatitis site as well, just my take, seems there are many people with these issues that post here. Thanks!

Hey girl! how was the mini vacation?  I dunno about sending ESLD etc to another site, after all many of these people have hep C too!  I think there are so few A's and B's that maybe combining those two together. Autoimmune could have started out as Hep C, so where do you put that?  I hate the idea of splitting so much. I am on another board that people don't post much and it isn't as fun or informational.  Hep C does have separate issues compared to Hep B or A. Different tx's etc.besides there are more of us. I think ESLD should stay where it is, including cirrhosis. After all those that have Hep C and Cirrhosis or ESLD should stay here!

sfbaygirl has a good point - I use to design sites - maybe you can have a link on each post where you can select your type and then a search feature where you can view just those you are interested in if you wish.

It would be more appropriate information, especially because of the inate differences between HAV, HBV, and HCV. I guess we can use the watchlist configuration to view the topics of interest.

I think the Hepatitis B community needs their own forum as well and I can see merit in SteveNY's suggestion that social and med all be in one forum, at least in the beginning.  The  Hep B community at the moment here is small but with their own forum, that could change and then the need to break out into two forums will be obvious, if it ever comes to that..  The overwhelming amount of HCV talk perhaps makes them feel that they need to find a different place that caters more to their needs and perhaps that's why there are less numbers of HBV persons here.

Personally, I never socialized outside of my genotype, not to mention category. Steve seems like a nice guy, however, so I might make an exception.

But seriously, the "community" forum concept itself is a bit confusing to many with so much overlap between there and here, and often duplicate threads like this one. I think having a separate Hep B forum is a good idea, but they should either have their own social forum (separate issues) or better yet, an integrated forum like we had before and arguably should have now.

Yep, I had the same response. She is on the beach...not sure what she meant by that.

Yes, Harry, I also think it would be a good idea for those of us who also have the AIH to have a forum for it. I don't respond a whole lot out here as my situation is somewhat different from the rest and if such a site existed, I might find someone else somewhere who also has had the HCV in addition to the AIH.  Seems to be somewhat of a not often case.  Thanks for asking for opinions.

In the hepatitis community forum  there may be a bit of common ground, but in the medical area, there doesn't seem to be a lot of overlap. I think separate forums there would be a good idea.  It's not bad as is;  I just skip over A and B.  What bothers me a lot is the underlining of every word that might be medically related.   It seems that the author is emphasizing those words, but they are not.  S.

Great idea! Agree with many Hep B's come here and it is mostly Hep c's here.

Just don't go messing with passwords! J/K !!

Oh please don't be offended! probably didn't think this through...I just meant that sometimes when people come on here with ESLD...I think it was Bill recently? we have to tell them where they can get more information on this, because MedHelp doesn't seem to have an information block like other sites seem to have...and this is soooo important...of course I want everyone here!!! lol....just didn't think this through...but I do think MedHelp would be benefitted from information libraries, or something of that nature,,,hope you guys are well!!!!!

Dear Harry,  Being a 'Newfie' to this website, I'm not sure how qualified I am to toss my two cents worth in, but here goes: I feel that it's important that those who read our posts/ journals are aware of our particular HV GT etc. so that they don't get confused (differing tx 's etc.) I've found our HCV forum a bit confusing and slightly overwhelming. I know that only time will help me to feel more comfortable w/ all the new acronyms, and med. terms. The delineation of 'type specific' forums should really help us to wade through the volumes of info. Such an excellent idea. Two cents doesn't buy much anymore, huh?

Following Wassup's post, I too am wondering something about the new forum. Why do I have like 50 hep c's in my profile page?  I click on one or another as they are in blue, but why are they there????  They bother me!  Thanks, I like the new forum other than that. I am such a visual person, something like this doesn't fit the fung shui of my page! LOL

Hey, you arent' going anywhere girl!  ESLD is something all us with HEP C have to consider and think about. Nick started with Hep C and now is at ESLD. We all are shocked and amazed by your resiliance and need to be here for you and Nick. we want to be here. It is good for us to know what his hideous disease can do to us!  4c really wasn't thinking about the hep c part.  Perhaps there are other places you can look, but you need to stay here!!! That's an order from the sheriff!

Hugs and love!
