Hi I'm brand new to this forum. After 16 weeks on treatment for the 2nd time my enzymes elevated. I'm no longer on either med and now I've had a  stomachache everyday for 5 days. I'm geno1a, pre-cirrhosis, have had hep c for probably 30 yrs. Has anyone had stomach trouble after stopping treatment?

Glad to hear your stomach problems disappeared. I'm sure a few prayers went up - lots of believers here on forum.

Oh glad to hear that you were seeing a good doctor. I got a little nervous when I was reading your thread because there have been a few on forum that have gone to doctors that really didn't seem to have much knowledge about tx and a few of the posters thought that maybe if they had gone to a differnt doc they would have cleared, but you obviously went to a good doc and now I see that you DID have a viral BT.

yeah its crumby when you think you are going to clear and you don't. I'm feeling that too. Well, welcome to the forum and lets hope that one of the doctors discover a cure that works everyone real soon. Never know. I do believe that saying that our life can change in the blink of an eye. It certainly did when our doctors told us "you have Hepatitus C." Now lets hope we see front page news head lines - "Doctor discovers cure for Hepatitus C."  That would be so great. It's nice to dream and hope that the dream comes true.

My stomach problems have disappeared! Bravo.

I was seeing a Hepatologist at Cedars-Sinai, he's had plenty of experience and patients. He did give me the meds weight based and I've never cleared. After 12 weeks he basically gave me the option of maintenance on a lesser dose of Peg-Interferon once a week, going on Infergen or going off meds. I did have a good viral break by week 4 and stayed that way until week 10 when my viral load shot way back up, along with the enzymes. He said that my body was rejecting the tx.

Believe me I was a strong believer that this time it would work and did everything I was told to do, hydration, easy fats, rest, etc. I so wanted the day to come when the doc said to me, "you've cleared".

sorry to hear. I haven't had stomach problems since stopping.

You might want to consider opening a thread and giving your info such as were you seeing a Hepatologist or GI doctor. Did he/she have you on weight based dose? What week did you clear?
I notice you mentioned your enzymes elevated, but you didn't mention any viral break through?
Did you have a viral break through? Sometimes enzymes do fluctuate a bit on tx and as long as the person is still UND the doctor wouldn't be stopping the tx.

I hope he didn't stop you from tx without you knowing if you had a Viral break thru or not.

I thought, "Now everyone knows that I fell and how I got this crazy virus"!! lol It's my past coming back to haunt me. Thanks for the response. This is actually my first forum and I have a lot of learning to do. I am feeling better every day w/o the poison in my system, but knowing that it didn't work for me is a frustration. In retrospect, after being told by my doc that people in my situation have an 80% chance of no further damage and 20% going on to liver cancer, tumors, and transplant, I think I would have opted to save my hair and the torture of the tx... day by day for now.
